No, and the one time I transferred a patient for one, the internist refused to do it once they got admitted

You got a good one in Chloe! She is a hard worker. Proud of her work when she rotated on my pocus rotation!

Beyond honored to be selected as one of the Dean’s Outstanding Clinical Community Faculty. Crazy how my graduation was already 8 years ago. To be receive this award so early in my career is a huge accomplishment.
“When will the lesson be learned? WHEN will the lesson be learned? How many more dictators must be wooed, appeased - good God, given immense privileges - before we learn? You cannot reason with a tiger when your head is in its mouth.” - Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour
Pass it on.

I wonder what our founding fathers would say to us publicly shaming a country trying to free itself from its oppressors? If I remember my US history correctly, France threw a lot of money at us to take down our oppressors. 200+ years later it seems we have forgotten our roots and what we stood for
This is why you were one of my favorite Vikings.
Glad I’m not the only one
I firmly believe most Americans believe in science and the scientific process. Is the system flawed? Yes. Is there greed? Yes. Does the institution need review and change? Yes.
The advancements for medicine in the last 100 years was made possible with science. Don’t undo it all now.
If anyone else is experiencing this too, I just wanted to remind you all that what you do matters and someday it will get better.
Yet, folks will stand their grounds they were lied to, misled, or ignored. At the same time, they tell me how they appreciate me listening and they feel like they can trust me. Then remain resistant to treatments, referrals, etc. It’s frustrating, but all I can do is listen and do my best.
I don’t know how many else are seeing this, but in recent weeks, I have seen an uptick in patients coming in and stating physicians have lied to them about diagnoses, treatments, and complications. I’ve reviewed charts and listened to their experiences and validate where they are coming from.
Well deserved! Keep up the amazing work!
CARTOON OF THE DAY
Time to distract myself from the world for awhile with a little world building and story writing. Thank you, @criticalrole.bsky.social for being a source of inspiration and helping me find something to calm me when the world feels dark.
So glad I’m off today…
@glaucomflecken.bsky.social this may be some untapped comedic gold.
Rural doc problems: Transferring a patient to ivory tower, only to read note “rural FM doc” “diagnosed the patient…”. When can the ivory tower culture be squashed? Not all of us are rural country bumpkins. We are physicians who love caring for our rural patients. Our board certs are the same. Period
From sunny beaches to windy snow-blown highways. Safely home with the cats closing in to snuggle us for the rest of the night. It was a great conference, @naemsp.bsky.social. New friends, old ones, as well as plenty of time to grow as a medical director. See you next year in Tampa!
Happy I was able to encourage one of my rock star med students to @naemsp.bsky.social this year. She is gonna match into EM this spring and likely do an EMS fellowship after. She is gonna do great things for EMS and EM alike!
In optimal heckling range of my mentors and friends Drs. Josh and Julie Stilley. It’s their fault I’m in EMS today. Thanks guys! #naemsp2025
Marriage is fun. Find someone who wants to share in life’s journeys and occasionally enjoys ridiculous poses at restaurants.
Resting up before the first official day of @naemsp.bsky.social. Excited to see everyone!
@naemsp.bsky.social ‘s Foundations of Oversight of EMS Education Programs was a fantastic primer to all things EMS education. As an EM physician who did not do fellowship, it was a great introduction to give me the tools I need to take next steps to further the training of my teams. Would recommend!
I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again. Vikings are always going to Viking when it matters most.
Me every time I tried to work with patients on this topic
