I'm much older than you, young fella, and this is what I should have posted about meeself, oh yes π
Your book, I am certain, will be excellent.
Read books whenever you can. Read as many as you can because what's on your phone, bleeping in from one social media platform or another, is mostly ********.
Happy #worldbookday π€
View from the writing desk in an attic bursting with books including some of my granny's childhood favourites.
If you need time out from the awful news of war, death and destruction around the world... here's a gentle wash of hopeful golden sunset light for you.
View: over the sea to Skye.
Beautiful light this morning. Down by the sea it was all sunshine and blue skies but in the mountains, a dusting of snow.
View of South Erradale & Baosbheinn.
βNews of bombs falling in Iran, retaliatory strikes and mayhem found me at the sea-log-seat as I watched plovers whirl about the sands. But just as my spirit quailed, the most joyful sound rose up from the dunes and crofts. Skylarks! Heralding spring.β
My pleasure, Sarah π€
An antidote to news of war perhaps. A short post/read on light and the arrival of spring:

Oh wonderful π€ I love it there!
Wonderful π₯°π₯°
Skylarks!!!
Above the bubbling songs of shore birds... SKYLARKS!!
High light, deep cold, sharp wind, gentle birdsong.
What a splendid South Erradale morning.
Views from the old post at the top of the "Seaweed Road". Readers of #Windswept will know this place π
Happy weekend everyone π€
Sure am, Nancy, than you. Hope you're keeping safe and well too π€
Snow squalls running down The Minch, a beach reconfigured, a faithful dog waiting patiently to playβ¦
Spring is coming! The oystercatchers said so π
Stay safe. We are all thinking of you and other friends and family over there π
π’ it all just keeps getting worse...
If you need some peace & solace, some time out from the relentlessly febrile news feed, here's the sea near my home, about 15 mins after sunset on a day when the world was still & all I could hear was my own breathing.
(Today it's pouring down & the wind is rattling the roof π€£)

A fine Baosbheinn sunrise.
The cold and frosty view from the back door at 07.58 & 08.06.
Well, here's a pop of colour to burst through the end of the day.
Happy weekend everyone π€
This morning's sunrise from the middle of a silhouette of mountains. By the spring equinox it will rise left of Baosbheinn (left on π·). To me this view is a deep time clock, a natural calendar, marking the passage of seasons across a year, for years uncountable.
You can read more in #Windswept
I have just finished Windswept for the first time and it is a book that I will read again and again. The writing is extraordinary, so detailed and descriptive across the seasons that I can see, smell, touch, taste and hear Red River Croft and its surrounds. Thank you.
Oh my, thank you Steve. What a wonderful post to come home to. I've just been out enjoying the sunshine (& very cold winds) and listening to all the birds. Thank you. Here's Red River Croft for you!
Happy Thursday π€
βIf only the strutting brawn, with their big tech, bags of dollars and guns, could perceive real planetary power, its truth, they might think differently.β
A strange cold calm, a short pause in the stream of biting winds from the east, everything & everyone wrapped in a comfort blanket of solace, peace & light, much-needed respite from the mayhem & chaos of the wider world.
I hope you find peace too.
View over the croft to the Torridon mountains.
Blue sky, blue sea. A riot of diamond light in biting easterly winds.
(View across the Minch to north Trotternish, Skye, Thursday 5/2/26)
Awesome. Hope all's well with you π
