Both desirable objectives, I agree, but the relationship still needs to be managed in the here and now with the lunatics currently in power across the pond. What would Polanski do if he were the PM? What would be the impact of those choices on the country? These are fair questions.

Whatever about special, the UK has an actual relationship with the US as we are currently so heavily reliant on it for trade, defence, intelligence, etc. That does, rightly, matter to Starmer, as it should to any responsible leader of the country.

OMG. A blast from my young journalist past! Before screenwriting, I worked in radio news. We had one for AP and one for UPI. The most wonderful noise that made you feel like you were in the center of everything happening as the paper piled up on the floor. Simpler times. Real journalism. No Fox.
