As a freelancer, I proofread my work to ensure I send the cleanest possible copy to my clients. My latest trick is to use the Microsoft Word "Read Aloud" function on the Review toolbar. The voice is weird but that actually helps me detect weird grammar. #grammar #proofreading #writing #freelance

Most of the time when I edit other people’s writing that’s what I end up changing the most. Not their words but the punctuation.

There’s no easy way to do it but I’ve found that starting with the rules of good grammar is the best place to start. My letters long run-on sentences. I find a lot of people are really comma-happy and hate full stops.

It’s really tough. The hardest thing I e found when subbing is to balance the need for grammatical correctness and accommodating the client’s preferred style with the voice of the writer.

It's worth noting that tariffs are paid by importers. So, when #trump puts a 10% on Australian goods, Australians are not paying the extra money. The importer, in there United States, is paying the extra 1-% which they will inevitably pass on to their customers. That's not to say there's no impact.
