If I'm drawn in AND I can see a clear vision for how I can help the manuscript, it will make my shortlist. Ultimately, I'll have to choose just one for mentorship, which will be so hard!
But I'm really excited for this phase. 💜

At this point, I've narrowed my list to 7 fulls to read––mostly it was the voices that grabbed me, as well as intriguing concepts I can't wait to dive into. Next, I plan on more closely reading 50+ pages of each submission on this list.

Across the board, I'm so impressed with the quality of writing I'm seeing––I can tell many of these authors are well into developing their craft and on the cusp of getting where they want to be! There are so many interesting concepts, voices, and opening scenes here.

I've read through all submissions in my genres, starting with the query, then moving onto the first few pages if the story feels like a good fit for me.
