During winter we get days in the low teens and sometimes down to low single digits at night, but not as cold as what you'd get over there.

We're increasingly seeing weeks at a time of high 30s/low 40s during summer though, when usually it'd just be a few days here and there. Also much less rain.

I think the weather has been shit in general. My tomatoes have mostly struggled this year and the plants are already dying off, even though this time last year they were still producing new fruit.

There's still fruit on the plants that will keep ripening, but once that's gone, that's it.

Nathan Fillion has been doing little videos over the last month or so with other Firefly stars to tease some upcoming announcement. I don't think it's 100% confirmed but it's looking increasingly likely.

Man, 20 years ago or maybe even 10 years ago I would have been so excited at the prospect of Firefly getting another series.

But now? Meh.

Rosco had to go to the vet today. He was a very good boy and didn’t try to eat anybody, so he got an ice cream from McDonalds as a treat.

Aphids are bastards. I get them occasionally on my chillies as well.

A bloom on my Camille Pissarro Del Bard rose, in the morning and in the evening. I love the gradual change of colours in the petals throughout the day.

Every now and then in various situations I worry I might be overreacting or being a bit ridiculous but now I can look at this and go "You know what, I'm being quite normal, actually"

I really like the look of Pokopia but I just don't think I can justify buying a brand new console for it when my launch day Switch still works and I have so many games on there I haven't finished yet :\

Watching some show on TV about American doomsday preppers and honestly, I would rather just be killed outright by whatever the apocalyptic event was than have have to live in a bunker and scratch around in the dust for a tin of beans while avoiding zombies for the next 5 years.

It's so much fun when the higher-ups at the university you teach at insist on GenAI being pushed into everything regardless of the environmental or ethical concerns or the detrimental effect on student learning lol

So close and yet so far… My fantasy novel manuscript is about 15,000 words away from being finished but I’ve sort of felt stuck in a rut with it for a few weeks. It’s frustrating to be so close to having a comp…

Pokemon Go Tour 2026 is over. Definitely one of my best events in terms of shinies caught; though I did get a few duplicates, I also got several new ones, some of which I've been chasing for years.

Came home from catching Pokemon and our 'guard dog' didn't even stir.

Hey Albo, you’re supposed to just lick the boot, not deep throat it.

It would have been so much more interesting if that last Pokemon started as the gym type and then Terastallised into something different, so you would have to actually go in there with a strategy and contingencies for dealing with a different type

28.02.2026 07:31 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I found very little reason to use Terastallising in gyms because the gym leader's last Pokemon would start as a different type to all the rest... and then it would Terastallise into the same type, so you could just keep steamrolling it with the same super effective mon you'd used for the others...

That being said, I'm well aware this might be a case of "I don't know what I want" and I know they have to change *something* or people will complain they're just re-releasing the same game over and over, but yeah... *shrug*

I think one of the biggest issues I have with the franchise is the introduction of a new gimmicky evolution type in each generation (Mega, Dynamax, Terastallising etc). It just makes it hard for me to invest in or care about them. Terastallising especially was disappointing in its gym implementation

No rain yet but the humidity is killing me so I'm heading home early 😭

Still, even in the four hours I played, I got 15 shinies, including 5 I didn't have, so it was definitely worth braving the unpleasant weather for as long as I did.

Going out for the #PokemonGo Tour event today. Hopefully the rain holds off until I get all the shinies I want πŸ˜†

In a statement to The Crimson, Summers wrote that the decision to leave was β€œdifficult” and that he remained β€œgrateful to the thousands of students and colleagues I have been privileged to teach and work with since coming to Harvard as a graduate student 50 years ago.”

β€œFree of formal responsibility, as President Emeritus and a retired professor, I look forward in time to engaging in research, analysis, and commentary on a range of global economic issues,” he added.

When academia's stars mistreat people, they're "punished" with relief from teaching, mentoring, and service responsibilities. This frees them to spend more time on the more valued work of research. And dumps less valued responsibilities onto colleagues, making it harder for them to become stars.
