This is literally a sermon millions of progressive Christians across denominations hear regularly.

Every day, I am reminded that nobody knows we exist, so I'm delighted to see the media actually listening for once.

It was also kind of a *thing* happening at the time? Like it all fits. And at least a few people writing in living memory of the alleged death claim to have known him or known people who know him.

We’ve got a lot less evidence for a lot of historical figures we accept exist.

Talarico is literally just riffing on Matthew 25 here. I’m sorry Senate Republicans are upset by the Gospel?

This is going to be a symbol of this era, I can already tell.

I don’t even mean that, frankly I think a lot of countries will play optimistically because US power is too central to their operations. But what can THIS administration offer the Iranians they would trust?

11.03.2026 03:27 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0

Right, but what long term offer could we offer that any non-insane person would trust.

I think we’ve gotta do something about payment processors.

My lawyer brain is stuck on the provision that allowing anthropomorphic characters is contingent on their knee orientation.

Some dude at Visa is like “the fur is fine, and I agree Disney’s Maid Marian was hot, but knees are sacrosanct. The line must be drawn here, this far, no further”

It’s just hitting me now that this almost certainly got back burnered because it’s not ‘lethality’

I don’t even know how you’d begin to negotiate peace in these circumstances? We were negotiating a peace deal right up until we bombed their leadership. How do you restart negotiations under those conditions?

BREAKING: Leaked Pentagon documents reveal highly classified CENTCOM war plans

5/ And on the Strait of Hormuz, they had NO PLAN. I can't go into more detail about how Iran gums up the Strait, but suffice it say, right now, they don't know how to get it safely back open.

Which is unforgiveable, because this part of the disaster was 100% foreseeable.

I really just do not understand how this could be possible

i am being absolutely serious here: CENTCOM had one job and it was literally to prepare for an Iran contingency

Huh, it turns out US practice of continuing talks even as the bombing starts, without any explanation, maybe makes it difficult to accomplish further diplomatic ends? You’re telling me this for the first time.

doing this without attaching it to a war powers vote is political malpractice

i sort of think part of the problem here is that accurately portraying american sentiment about this war would shred a lot of other assumptions about the second trump admin that much of the political press have been running with since the start

In honor of a 78 degree March day, it’s time to re-up my annual favorite tweet

We should take people who say these things seriously and take their ideas seriously. This is actual no-shit eugenics if taken seriously. The implicit claim here is that things like MRI machines or pharmaceutical medications were a mistake. In the age of HHS Sec RFK Jr it’s not just harmless granola.

Though I guess that’s not quite treason.

I guess, for example, I have very little tolerance for “Jews who support contemporary genocides than other such supporters are *worse* because of the holocaust et. al.” from gentiles.

Tbf, I disagree with that condemnation (Caesar was the real traitor to the Republic) and also fuck the Roman Republic.

10.03.2026 17:52 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

I think it is, but *only* from queer people. I don’t think it’s okay or reasonable for straight folks to deride a (shitty, self-hating) gay man for treason to us, and can amount to holding him to a higher standard *because* of his homosexuality, which I’m less cool with.

Gotta convince your insurers the Iranians won’t target *you* out of spite, and that’s a bit hard in conditions of extreme uncertainty.

The fact that we can, currently, produce exponentially more food than society actually needs using only 2-3% of the population is probably the most revolutionary development in the last few thousand years of human history, and basically nobody has come to terms with it yet.

we kicked starvation's ass so hard we had to burn billions of calories to invent a drug to help us starve a little bit! We accepted fire from prometheus and used it to build an armored division to conquer Olympus! we should be celebrating and distributing the loot, not romanticizing the cold!
