An impromptu vignette in a regular morning. This is a photo taken up close of a cup of coffee, a tablet reader, and a bowl of yarn on a round topped night table next to white gauzy curtains. The table top is warm brown. The tablet reader has a pink and white foral pattern on its cover. The yarn is a pink and plum color variegated yarn wound into a center pull ball. It sits atop a partially finished plum and pink patterned hat in a ceramic bowl that is glazed in soft pink. Closest to us is coffee swirled with cream in a hand crafted ceramic mug. The mug is white with brown, leafless tree leaning in breeze on its front and and group of birds flying against the wind just under the rim on the inside edge opposite. Twinkle lights hang in the soft curtains behind because you are just never too grown up for twinkle lights.

A long column of sunshine stretches toward camera from a glass storm door. Lined up in its beam are four dogs. 3 lap dogs and a very large Bluetick hound. They are very different in their body language. Closest to the windowed door is a 10 pound tan poodle. She lounges with her head up watching the outdoors. Behind her and taking up much space is an 83 pound hound with black head and ears, an orange reflective vest still on, and white, dappled paws reaching out into the sun. He lays on his side like someone tipped him over. Behind him nearer to the camera is an 8 pound creamy tan poodle. She lays in a perfect “sploot” with her back legs sticking out behind her and hips spread wide. She looks over her shoulder at the camera, unbothered. Last in line is a 12 pound white Maltese with black eyes and a moon face. He’s just chilling in the back of the line but he is not chill. He has positioned himself to supervise. They stayed right here, languid and lounging and shifting with the line of the sun until, it was gone. Then they proceeded to a more west-facing window to resume their cat imitations.

A rescued Maltese lies by a white headboard on a cream coverlet. He deserves every good thing.

Two tiny golden poochon sisters lay head to head on a cream bed in winter sunshine. One looks up with her eyes at the camera. They opened this house to a flood of happiness.

A very good pup looks up from his very special new car seat. He is black with a white but dappled face and belly. Gorgeous amber eyes and a big black nose that he lets you kiss. He was found a few days before my 40th birthday as an emaciated stray. A short time later, he was with us recovering from infections, worms, and starvation. The 60lb dog we rescued turned out to be 85 and just a puppy and the most patient, loving, scaredy cat snuggle I’ve ever met and my favorite birthday present ever.

That desktop background is everything.

A white Maltese sits looking up at the camera. He has a partially grown out groomer cut so his face is very round, body very floofy, and his just a bit too long “bangs” are tied up in a little fountain with a red bow at top of his head. He is wearing his red harness and his usually black nose is faded a bit to tan today. This little guy will let me lower my face nose to nose with him and not flinch away. He will sit nose to nose and gaze into your eyes as long as you let him, I believe that shows in his very open expression in this photo.

I don’t know how he found me, but I’m so glad he did. 🐕 🐶 ❤️
