Yes, almost certainly. Supermassive black holes are present in nearly every galaxy so any of them that are accreting material at a high enough rate will be quasars. While that happened more frequently early in the Universe it should still happen today.
but the intuition doesn’t apply to flux — things look bigger but not brighter!
the energy of each photon and the rate of photon arrival both decrease by (1+z) so the flux still decreases

In not-very-good news, extreme winds (114 mph gusts) on the early morning of the 25th caused significant damage to the 36" Great Refractor at Lick Observatory. Half of the main shutter broke off and landed on the main building.
