Today I'm in Newton Abbot judging beer for SIBA. The place is filling up with people eager to taste some super beers. 🍻

I had an overnight in Newark on Saturday which meant.....I enjoyed reading my book in Just Beer Micropub with some Azvex stout and then I visited The Organ Grinder for some Hophead and a Blue Monkey Guerrilla.
Very relaxing.

So I've done a thing.....and re-stood for election to CAMRA's National Executive.

All CAMRA members can vote and with 11 candidates for 6 places every vote will count!

Three super pubs, (that I remembered to take photographs in this week), firstly The Smithfield, Derby who are celebrating their 8th birthday, I enjoyed visiting The Mallard, Worksop, plus part of the cider and perry selection at The Victoria, Derby.

Last weekend I was volunteering at @ChezCAMRA's Winding Wheel Beer Festival. A 2 day event packed with super cask, live beer & cider/perry options.
I was on tokens with Moz.
Plus Dominic from @thornbridge was onsite for a talk on how it came about that theysaved part of The Union Brewing system

In Rotherham at Magna today for The Great British Beer Festival Winter. What a selection of beers, ciders and perries 💥 plus the prestigious CAMRA's Champion Winter Beer of Britain judging is happening today. If you are coming you are in for a treat 🍻🙌🎉💥🥂👍

Super beef bourguignon with mustard mash at the Red Lion, Kniveton yesterday with a friend. I bought some Duck Chicken cider bottles too. Plus they have a cider friendly band playing this Saturday. Highly recommended!

Life can catch you off key like this sometimes. Can you take something from home to use as a hanky (or tiny support/worry blanket)? Be kind to yourself and leave lots of time to arrive and get back. My thoughts are with you Laura Xx

Recently in Grimsby I visited a bottle shop & bar called Message in a Bottle, Cleethorpes & enjoyed some Tartarus Brewery St Nick a 6% festive stout & Vault City Brewery's Overnight Oats an 8.4% moresome salty sour beer.
Earlier I had a Great Newsome Brewery 5% Newsome Noel it was delicious too.

Last week I was volunteering on the Admissions Team at the wonderful 40th Pigs Ear Beer & Cider Festival & was lucky enough to be alongside some awesome people.
I've been attending Pigs Ear since the third Festival in 1984 at York Hall, Bethnal Green. Wow how can that even be possible 😉🤯🍻

My friends Mozza and Jonny recently took me to the Pickled Pear in Palterton and the Peak Ales Chatsworth Gold was on great form. Limited opening hours, and it's small but well worth popping into if close by. camra.org.uk/pubs/pickled...

I had a reinvigorating and inspirational visit to The Royal Academy last week.
Here is: The Taddei Tondo (unfinished) by Michelangelo; Kira Freije's award winning sculpture and Michael Craig-Martin's rich, colourful capture of the objects around us. 💓💖

This is so wrong! Why are we shutting down route to market for food products. These markets are historic institutions with surrounding support networks, they can't just be shifted and shunted around. Can we do anything about this?

Fantastic evening last Thursday at The Brunswick with Derby FemALES. Seven champion women battled the cold & snow to gather, sip, laugh & listen to each other. Hearing our voices ring out with authenticity was a moment to cherish. Next gathering 19.12.24 at The Furnace Inn. All women very welcome.🍻✨

Fantastic meal at The Arkwright Arms, nr Chesterfield on Saturday afternoon.
I had the sausage and mash with John's outstanding gravy followed with a trio of ice-cream (I got a little bit excited about it too!).
