Probably the largest protest I’ve seen in UCD - in solidarity with the UCD medical student who suffered horrific #GBV I’m proud to see so many of my students here.

No one should be using ChatGPT or partnering with OpenAI for anything.

How tech turned against women As AI-generated sexualised images proliferate and app-facilitated abuse spreads, we are sleepwalking into a new age of gender inequality. It is time to regulate properly

"large language models such as ChatGPT were consistently advising women to ask for lower salaries than men in recruitment processes,... AI tools already in use by more than half of England’s councils were downplaying women’s medical conditions, potentially resulting in unequal care"

I hacked ChatGPT and Google's AI – and it only took 20 minutes I found a way to make AI tell you lies – and I'm not the only one.

I got a tip that all over the world, people are using a dead-simple hack to manipulate AI behavior. It turns out changing what AI tells other people can be as easy as writing a blog post *on your own website*

I didn’t believe it, so I decided to test it myself www.bbc.com/future/artic...

Stunning cast in the second of the three-part podcast miniseries on the symposium, Close Reading for the 21C: "Why is close reading best understood as a conversation? What are its evaluative standards? How does it extend the conversation beyond literary studies?"

@irvinewelsh.bsky.social is clear on this: Robertson and the police are 'in the property-protection business'. All others are imprisoned in the carceral state

So who does ICE's impunity protect? Whose bodies and bodies politic are being immunised? And who gets locked up in the carceral state?

Great video, struck by how similar this analysis is to my reading of Irvine Welsh's Filth: what ICE and the Trump state, like Robertson, seek is not any kind of immunity from harm (as Hobbes, however flawed, would have it) but impunity to act according to one's own personal interests

This is exactly how it worked in our Critical Theory module too! Showing the students what they're losing instead of policing their essays is much more effective and a lot less exhausting!

Just checking, it's now ok to flee your homeland, because you're afraid for your safety, and seek refuge in another Country?

Glad we've cleared that up. Let's hear no more about immigration and refugees then.

Stop Palantir taking over our public services! Our public services aren’t for a secretive profit-hungry US tech firm. Sign the petition to tell the Government to scrap all contracts with secretive US tech firm Palantir.

Palantir, a US spy-tech firm, has been given access to millions of NHS patient records.

Its founder has said the NHS should be 'ripped up'.

Join me in calling on the government to end the dangerous Palantir contract.

Good thread.

There are disabled people in the future.

The only reason you wouldn’t see them is if that society has gone full steam ahead on eugenics and they’re unable to live freely or be accommodated in public.

This is my first attempt to capture a live event of this size.

I’m thankful to @dan-sinnamon.bsky.social & @johannawinant.bsky.social for letting me adapt the launch of their tremendous book.

I think these episodes will be an additive supplement to it.
