Probably the largest protest I’ve seen in UCD - in solidarity with the UCD medical student who suffered horrific #GBV I’m proud to see so many of my students here.

Hey, @micheal-martin.bsky.social, look, it's apparently this easy.
No one should be using ChatGPT or partnering with OpenAI for anything.
good morning new followers here are some resources for humanities classrooms

"large language models such as ChatGPT were consistently advising women to ask for lower salaries than men in recruitment processes,... AI tools already in use by more than half of England’s councils were downplaying women’s medical conditions, potentially resulting in unequal care"
I got a tip that all over the world, people are using a dead-simple hack to manipulate AI behavior. It turns out changing what AI tells other people can be as easy as writing a blog post *on your own website*
I didn’t believe it, so I decided to test it myself www.bbc.com/future/artic...
Stunning cast in the second of the three-part podcast miniseries on the symposium, Close Reading for the 21C: "Why is close reading best understood as a conversation? What are its evaluative standards? How does it extend the conversation beyond literary studies?"

Cutting down the manuscript word-count to fit the journal requirements🤦🏽
@irvinewelsh.bsky.social is clear on this: Robertson and the police are 'in the property-protection business'. All others are imprisoned in the carceral state
So who does ICE's impunity protect? Whose bodies and bodies politic are being immunised? And who gets locked up in the carceral state?
Great video, struck by how similar this analysis is to my reading of Irvine Welsh's Filth: what ICE and the Trump state, like Robertson, seek is not any kind of immunity from harm (as Hobbes, however flawed, would have it) but impunity to act according to one's own personal interests

Our next talk in the HI Lunchtime Seminar Series (Spring 2026) is on Wednesday 18 February, 1.10-2pm, by Prof Lai Ma (UCD School of Information & Communication Studies), ‘Knowledge Flows and Open Research Infrastructure’ | HI Seminar Room H204 at 1.10pm | ALL WELCOME!
This is exactly how it worked in our Critical Theory module too! Showing the students what they're losing instead of policing their essays is much more effective and a lot less exhausting!
Maika Nguyen's "My Brother, The Poet" was selected as Highly Commended in the creative non-fiction category by judge Tim MacGabhann. Read more below, and follow Maika on Bluesky: @maikanguyen.bsky.social

Screenshot of Tommy Ten Names, claiming he's afraid and fleeing the UK.
Just checking, it's now ok to flee your homeland, because you're afraid for your safety, and seek refuge in another Country?
Glad we've cleared that up. Let's hear no more about immigration and refugees then.
Palantir, a US spy-tech firm, has been given access to millions of NHS patient records.
Its founder has said the NHS should be 'ripped up'.
Join me in calling on the government to end the dangerous Palantir contract.

Good thread.
There are disabled people in the future.
The only reason you wouldn’t see them is if that society has gone full steam ahead on eugenics and they’re unable to live freely or be accommodated in public.
bad news for anyone who likes not having deadly diseases
No son, they are not "magically delicious." The workers made them delicious. This is a slogan meant to mystify the social conditions of labor
This is my first attempt to capture a live event of this size.
I’m thankful to @dan-sinnamon.bsky.social & @johannawinant.bsky.social for letting me adapt the launch of their tremendous book.
I think these episodes will be an additive supplement to it.
The bias here is so evident: why do these schemes exist for Americans but not for Palestinian, Ukranian, Congolese, etc. scholars?
about to watch the halftime show but why does it look like bad bunny's wearing full cricket whites
It is only one step from LLM to MLM
