So well put! And sometimes I can see that the writer thinks the dynamic is hot or the dynamic has a potential to be hot, but the focus is too much on the looks and not on the chemistry
I've developed a rule for reading and writing #romance and #romantasy: the "hot people make bad romance" rule. If your romance wouldn't happen if the characters weren't physically attractive, I'm bored. The *dynamic* needs to be sexy, not the bodies.
I love male characters that are frighteningly competent fighters/scary good at their job/whatsver but also lazy annoying dandy-types at the same time. Rec me your me your favourite fops please, i need more of them in my life

This is so wild to me as a writer who doesn’t have a genre (i wanna do them all!!) but if i couldn’t write the type of stories i like to write (small/localized intimate dramas with various genre elements) i would do uhhhh fantasy political intrigue?
