Although it's unclear if the database they use during immigration enforcement is the same one as they do for other law enforcement purposes, it's clear they have access to Puerto Rican driver and vehicle registration data because of the search that came back to the U.S. citizen they did not detain.
HSI has used PR transportation data for immigration enforcement at least nine times. In one case, a record check came back to a U.S. citizen they weren't after
