They did a good job with One Peice and it helps when they get the original creator involved. But yeah, most of them end up being complete garbage. But most of them also don't involve input from the original creator even when they are available.

You know what this reminds me of? Remember those, not sure if it was Code Breaker or Game Shark, but those legally distinct version of Pokémon on the packaging of cheating devices.

You know, something I think the seriously under utilize in SAO is the mundane/non combat related skills in that set up. Normally over looked skills could turn out to be something that helps keep players spirits up.

Unironically hoping that both do well if only because other game companies might want to give the MMORPG based stories in games a try and if not just Z.E.R.O. but Echos of Aincrad they might see this sub-genre as profitable itself not just IP.

It really comes down to whose did the writing for it, cause the set up of SAO is interesting.

The original didn't really feel like it utilized it's own setting properly and it's a shame. I feel like Gungale did that better.

Honestly, if done right, could be fun. Not a day 1 sale for me of course, maybe if it goes on sale. My secret hope is that they both do well and that will get the sub-genre of offline mmos to be a thing. Gimme more stories in fake mmos!

It's fine, Z.E.R.O. won't be out for a while so they won't be in direct competition, might even leave people hungry for more.

Yeah, if it weren't for MAMA, it was already kind of stretching suspense of disbelief if there hadn't been a greater conspiracy going on in the background. But even cover ups can only do so much, people talk. Specially without government involvement.
