Oops you love my beach videos. Also I adore trans people, think police should be completely defunded, prisons abolished, healthcare & education free, housing affordable, income universal basic, & billionaires taxed until they are meager millionaires. No AI

Hasbro’s CEO on J.K. Rowling. We just published our new Decoder interview with Chris Cocks, the head of Hasbro. I asked him directly about how he thinks about author J.K. Rowling’s politics and what it’s done to the Harry Potter f...

cannot stress enough that "separate the art from the artist" was meant for private individuals reconciling the art they love with its flawed creators and not meant for the ceo of a company driving a dump truck of money up to a bigot's front porch

I don’t think Trump and his people are capable of engineering “distractions,” I think the mind-numbing chaos we see every day is straightforwardly the result of giving the dumbest, cruelest, most corrupt, most selfish people of a generation near-unmitigated power

Wonderful obit for legendary comics colorist Tatjana Wood in NYT.

Here she is holding her Eisner Hall of Fame Award in 2023. This photo makes me SO happy. Just look at that smile! Even at age 96, she knew what that honor meant.

I used to work in identity verification at Login.gov, leading an anti-fraud team. We held the Privacy Act sacrosanct, aware that the law really didn't have any teeth so it was up to our good faith and good judgement to uphold the law and protect Americans privacy.

Grunya Sukhareva - Wikipedia

TIL: Before Hans Asperger or Leo Kanner, a Jewish-Ukrainian psychiatrist named Grunya Sukhareva defined autism in 1925. Both men did not cite her work. She also had documented how it affected women and girls, where the men did not.

The Great Crime Decline Is Happening All Across the Country Even cities with understaffed police departments have made record gains.

"Few experts endorse the idea that the police “had nothing to do with it🤡"

Wrong.

All of the experts endorse it. Anyone that doesn't endorse it, is not an expert on crime reduction.

Because the data on this has been clear and consistent for ~50+ years.

Essentially, all Proton is really saying is that foreign search warrants are handled according to Swiss law, rather than US law, which is nuanced. But the way they're wording it seems intended to mislead customers into thinking Proton will shield them from US law enforcement (they won't).

It was going on one, two in the morning, and we were shooting what I felt was an important scene for me, when he makes an attempt to be quote-unquote straight, in a suit, and at the end of it he gets emotional and locks himself in the other room. And I felt like, I’m not getting what I want—I’m not happy with it. Mike was happy with it. He called me the next day and said, “I know you weren’t happy with the scene last night. Believe me, we wouldn’t have gone home if I had felt we weren’t getting it.” And then he sort of became my psychiatrist and said, “You find it difficult to be happy, don’t you? You find it difficult to enjoy things.” And I said, “Well, sometimes. Last night was about feeling too tired and not feeling I was reaching what I needed to reach for the scene.” He talked to me then about when he was making, I don’t know whether it was Virginia Woolf or The Graduate. He said, “I didn’t enjoy it for a second. I was worried about so many things.” And then he said, “You know, this is never going to happen again quite this way. You should try to allow yourself to enjoy this more. Take a minute a day, and then add a minute the next day, and another minute. Pretty soon, you’ll have hours of happiness.”

The photo shows an intricately designed glass figurine in the shape of a stylized fish. The fish is made of transparent, slightly yellow-tinted glass and features numerous decorative details. Its body is adorned with curved elements, including a blue wavy line above a black, round eye. The fins and tail are elaborately shaped, with the tail appearing broad. In the background, another glass figurine resembling an animal is visible. The image has taken in a exhibition setting.

Fascinating world of ancient #glass: This #Roman flask in the form of a fish was found in Cologne, 3rd c. AD. 🐠🐟
We don't know what is was used for, maybe the shape relates to the content (fish sauce), maybe it was used to hold oil.

Parents: Don't Hide Your Children's Autism Diagnosis From Them — THINKING PERSON'S GUIDE TO AUTISM since I didn’t know about my autism diagnosis, I just assumed there was something wrong with me and that I deserved what I got.

Parents, pls tell your autistic kids they are autistic: "You may think that an autistic child won’t notice they are different than their non-autistic peers; I have not met one autistic person (me included) who hasn’t noticed their difference early in life."
