Curiosity is the strongest driver of persuasion, followed by Suspense. Reader-oriented features matter far more than structural ones. Persuasive arguments often engage interlocutors by managing how information is disclosed (making them want to know more).

Applied at scale to ~963K comments: narrativity is a strong predictor of persuasion. But the key finding is that scalar vs. binary modeling leads to different results. Surprise has a negative effect when modeled as scalar (more surprise → less persuasion), but positive as binary.
