I’m starting to think that climate change won’t be solved by having every individual person volunteer to accept minor inconveniences

The voice of a particular Victoria neighbourhood. We're dissociating. From you. From ourselves. Harm reduction, cycling, stopping genocide, clover point discourse, owning the NIMBYs. Vulnerable to fire damage, resistant to psychic damage.

"If we're going to be making social policy that affects tens of thousands of Albertans, it should be based on evidence, and it should be evidence that's available to all of us."

My hottest take is that gasoline should be ten times more expensive because ending the world should cost a lot of money.
One of my favourite sides of politics/media.
It’s not disingenuous to point out that the NYT did not run a single front page story of the Minab bombing. You don’t dispute this claim because it’s true. And the story that you reference on your webpage does not attribute blame to US/Israel and frames it as an allegation by “Iranian state media”
Can we not war?
I must shamelessly suggest that British Columbians should read this.
Hi this thing is super murderous and illegal but we’re not ruling out joining it.
Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM

Nowhere has the “free market” solved an affordable housing crisis alone. As I noted Netherlands 34% non-market housing, Denmark 21%, Britain 16%, France 17%. Canada sits at just 3.4%. We need a real plan to scale co-ops, public and geared-to-income homes, with federal investment to match the crisis.
Announcement: starting November 1st, we will remain permanently on Delayed Sailing Time (DST).
I really did think the Riyadh Comedy Festival would help bring peace to the Middle East
At a dinner party in Cairo, when a newly arrived expat asked “So what does Bahrain do?” one of my funniest Arab friends responded immediately, “Torture.” Solidarity with the Bahrainis rioting against their vicious US-supported regime, which practices torture against its Shia majority.
Rubio speaking to reporters now says the “imminent threat” the administration has referred to to justify US strikes on Iran was that they knew Israel was going to attack Tehran, and believed such an attack would prompt Iran to strike US bases and assets in the region
The threat to US forces was literally Israel.
And, yet, Canadian PM Carney dutifully called Iran the cause of all problems in the Middle East.
This is mass gaslighting. Again.
In a poll in which permanent pacific standard time was not an option.

I saw a comment the said we aren’t “angry enough.” But all we are is angry. Our veins circulate it like acid. It cracks our sternums. It poisons and paralyzes us. We hiss and spit at each other, all impotent, helpless rage.
We don’t need more anger. We need more direction.
No joke, bartending has taught me more useful skills and workplace experience than any other job I’ve ever had.

in case anyone ever needed confirmation that it's not about building a democratic Iran, it's about collapsing Iran and turning it into a land of rubble that can be bombed every six months
Diasporas don't pay the price of resistance or the cost of war. People in their homelands do. They are the best architects of their own freedom.
