The areas of focus in Grades 1 and 2 should be reading, writing, math, and self-regulation.

Science and social studies should be inquiry-based and ungraded.

Dance, drama, music, visual arts, and physical education should be taught by specialist educators and should also be ungraded.

The amount of articles I have seen written lately that seem to give credence to RFK’s food, water, and medical safety conspiracies is disappointing.

The direction we’re going scares me. We’re losing faith in science and academia, and relying on personalities instead.

Someone told me that a teacher's responsibility is to "provide opportunities to learn" which surprised me. Teachers have a responsibility to ensure children have LEARNED.

Walked past a DC public elementary school today that had a garden with a greenhouse and chicken coop!

Turns out my teacher prep program often places student teachers there and now I’m a bit too excited about teaching kids to care for chickens

This has to be one of my favorite teaching books I’ve read so far! Picked it up at a used bookstore and I can’t put it down.

The whole book is a collection of letters that Jonathan Kozol (author of Savage Inequalities) wrote to a first-year teacher who asked him for advice.

This has always been the plan. It was why all the private religious schools opened in the 50s/60s post-Brown. It was to re-segregate all in the name of God. They will let in a few token POC w/ money, skill or athleticism, but w/ whites in full control

Hegseth says he “lays out the strategy we must employ in order to defeat America’s internal enemies.”

And that we must “exorcise the leftist specter dominating education…”

The word “exorcise” is scary to hear from the head of the pentagon.

Absolutely an interesting time. I am trying to frame it as an opportunity to make more of a difference in the lives of our students. When policies are passed that harm them, it’s our job to do what we can to make it better.
