All of those ads where everything becomes a casino - the subway, the grocery store, etc. - is horrifyingly on-the-nose about what gambling addiction does, but sells it as a good thing. Just pure evil.

Such a huge loss for Holyoke. That town really needed this.
I hate CM Young so much and remain livid that he was the only candidate thanks to that awful meddling lawyer.
We thought congress would stop him. We though the courts would stop him. We thought the corporations and universities and media empires would stand up to him. But none of that happened.
...it seems like the main issue is that the writers of, say, Baldur's Gate 3, don't have a financial stake in the success of the adaptation, while the head of the studio probably does. Which feels like a Video Games Problem. Of course, the union exclusion is also problematic.
Literary authors, for the most part, don't have much of a say in how their novels are adapted for the screen. Rare is the writer who is allowed to contribute anything! And when they do have control, like Stephen King, the results are often... not good. They are distinct skill sets. However! 1/2

I like to think of it as brilliantly efficient - an entire, wide-ranging menu made from the same 5 basic ingredients. It is not fancy! But it is dependable and delicious. In this crazy, fast-changing world we live in, Taco Bell has been a bastion of stability.
I've been following "Chokeville" since the early 2000s and have read many of its iterations. I am thrilled that it is now out in ebook form and, most notably, as an audiobook. @fireland.com is a generational talent and his masterwork deserves a wide audience.
Calling out the atrocities and inhumanity of Israel's government is not antisemitic. Remember that.
I'd say this is another example of GenX erasure, but we are all still drinking wine, so. And we can now get sweet deals!

Back in like 1999 when the first dot com thing was happening, it was all weekly parties at the Organic offices, nobody knew how to make any money, everyone doing ecstasy on the weekends, just run run run until the fun ended, which it did. Nobody was talking about lethality then.
@fetterman.senate.gov is a murderous loon. Get his Trump-addled brain out of office, stat.
Absolutely would not eat, this is the easiest mass-dosing scheme ever invented.
This was obvious from the moment it happened, it is weird that it keeps getting reposted as a new discovery. This admin is full of unrepentant war criminals.
This is fucked up, evil torture.
I just got a new (old) reference-grade CD player, and you know what? CDs sound fucking amazing.
The "Rubber Traits" EP by Why? is transcendentally amazing.
Wait until they hear about... tractors!

Many moons ago I would go to thrift stores and filch the tapes from answering machines that were for sale. I did it for "art" but also bc I didn't want to buy 50 answering machines. I also once stole a piece of a lighting kit from IKEA because it was not available a la carte. I always felt guilty.
Classic, almost Encyclopedia-worthy correlation / causation fallacy argument.
We knew from the day it happened that the US bombed the girl's school in Iran. Kind of maddening that we are now treating it as new information.
Will there be a second print run of TBQ7, or am I going to forever regret not ditching all of my plans and going to Baltimore this past weekend?
