A social media post featuring two tweets. The first tweet by Anne Applebaum states that every book published in the United States is sent to the Library of Congress, and mentions age restrictions for using the reading room. The second tweet from Acyn quotes a reporter asking why the president fired the Librarian of Congress, followed by a response addressing concerns about actions taken regarding the library and children’s books. The background includes the White House press briefing setting with a lectern and flags.
People who never read books now in charge of books.
73% of mothers with kids under 18 are in the workforce. More than flowers or brunch, working moms need:
-Paid family leave
-Equal pay
-Universal childcare
(But get your mom flowers, too)
Do elections get more stressful and less fun as you get older or is this another one of those unprecedented times situations?
Listening to the new Bells Larsen album, Blurring Time, on repeat this weekend and feeling all kinds of joy and pride ♥️💙💚 open.spotify.com/album/7iHvF3...
At this juncture I’d like to point out:
* we’re on the brink of a golden age of medical healing
* there’s enough money in the world to solve every problem in the world
* a united approach could stop the climate crisis
But a small group of sociopaths seeking personal power are going to throw it away.
A silly bug fix but put up my first PR since returning from parental leave today and it felt so good 💪🏻👩💻
Going back to work on Thursday and need to remember what having an adult conversation is like. Twice in the last week I have caught myself going into detail about my son’s poops to people who reeeeally didn’t want to know 😬
We have moved into the stage of parenting where I no longer have to be on the floor playing with toys to entertain my son, but I can literally never take my eyes off of him or else he will be out the front door. We are tired 🥱
A bookish Christmas ♥️🎄

My happy place
There is no better feeling on this entire planet than your child falling asleep on you
Like in Harry Potter when Umbridge band The Quibbler and then everyone wants to read it. Come on…
The panic of all of your library holds coming in at the same time…
Invites to your friends who are parents. It might be irritating to hear “no” 95% of the time. But one day, I’ll be ready to say yes, and I’m terrified that there won’t be anyone to say yes to. She said we will watch Wicked together when it comes to Netflix ♥️ 2/2
My friend invited me to go see Wicked this weekend. I decided to be candid and say that, while I don’t have plans, I am upset about my son starting full days at day care and I want to soak in my time with him. She asked me how she could support me through the transition (♥️). Don’t stop sending 🧵 1/2
Having a child is like the Grinch learning the true meaning of Christmas. They don’t replace anyone in your heart, your heart just grows three sizes to accommodate them ♥️

Disappointed, but unfortunately not surprised at the news coming out of #COP29
My last official day of parental leave is tomorrow and I am emotionally devastated. Today, my husband said “I know you are sad, but think of all that you accomplished in the last year”. He listed off about ten huge changes and said “you did all that, beautifully. Be sad, but be proud too” 🥹
With a fully remote team of just 20 employees, Bluesky has surpassed 20 million users in its first year since opening to the public and is stealing thunder from rivals hundreds of times its size.
At a time when conventional wisdom among bosses is that workers must be in-person to be productive.
My #CoStar horoscope told me today that I would “forget how computers work”. This is exceptionally problematic news for a web developer…
