This strong result – the second strike mandate in the history of the ITF – comes even after over 40 staff have left the organisation following a mass redundancy program.

📢 Breaking: @itfglobalunion.bsky.social staff have delivered a strike mandate!
In a postal ballot that concluded today, ITF staff voted to take industrial action to:
1️⃣ Defend their abruptly dismissed union reps
2️⃣ Ensure accountability of senior leadership
3️⃣ Protect their CBA
Thank you to the staff who form the trade union delegation of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) for this warm message of solidarity.
Sending massive solidarity to Ryan and everyone at @uniteitf.bsky.social and elsewhere whose employers are undermining their own core values.
He is speaking here alongside colleagues from @uniteucu.bsky.social facing trade union victimisation, and supporters from Unite branches at NEU and Oxfam, who have also faced upsetting treatment.

Union rep. New parent. Migrant worker.
Ryan is one of two union reps abruptly sacked by @itfglobalunion.bsky.social management.
❌ Fired my management decree, contrary to internal procedures
❌ Denied the right to work his notice period, accelerating removal from the country
These unjustified terminations were carried out by management decree, contrary to internal policy, past practice, and what the reps were told would take place.

.@itfglobalunion.bsky.social management abruptly terminated two union reps.
Ryan is a migrant worker who is also a new parent.
Meanwhile, ITF management have yet to respond to Unite's urgent letter calling for the terminations of the reps to be rescinded.

This differential treatment of union reps follows ITF management's earlier abrupt sackings by decree, contrary to internal policy, and swift termination of their building passes and email access, while other departing staff have retained these privileges.
Following deliberations by senior management, he was denied entry to a staff social taking place where crepes were being served. After being told that the event was for staff only not "visitors", he could only watch as a number of non-staff members joined the event.
What in the world are the priorities of @itfglobalunion.bsky.social management?
On Wednesday, one of the abruptly terminated reps requested and received permission to attend the office.
Upon arrival he was informed he would need to be chaperoned and "collected" from area to area.
One of the sacked reps from @uniteitf.bsky.social spoke at our victimisation strike rally yesterday. What’s happening to them is another stark example of the union movement’s ‘leadership’ losing its way.
Please join us in sending full solidarity & give them a follow.

Rather than engage in genuine negotiation and follow a realistic timeline, management unveiled 16 new policies and announced a 30-day consultation window to review over 200 pages of draft policies, with another 12 policies to come in March.
After abruptly sacking two union reps, @itfglobalunion.bsky.social management are now trying to tear up the existing CBA with staff.
Under the "new CBA" written by management, important protections would be removed or put in non-binding policies.
.@itfglobalunion.bsky.social management want to tear up the CBA with staff and replace it with a "new CBA" contrary to the very idea of a mutually agreed and binding agreement.
ITF staff are now balloting for industrial action to protect their CBA and uphold fairness at work.
Quiz: When is a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) no longer a CBA?
After abruptly terminating two union reps, management are in a better position to push through this hostile agenda.
ITF staff are now balloting for industrial action to protect their CBA and uphold fairness at work.
.@itfglobalunion.bsky.social management want to tear up the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with staff and replace it with a new one they've written by an imposed deadline of 31 March.
In October 2025 we called for a fully independent investigator to be appointed. Last week, a panel of three investigators were announced.
This is an important step but took far too long, and a number of critical issues remain outstanding.
Four months ago, Novara Media reported on serious allegations of misconduct and a pervasive culture of misogyny at the @itfglobalunion.bsky.social.
How much progress has been made? Not nearly enough.
.@unionworkersunion.org: “This is not about attacking the movement. It is about strengthening it. Trade union workers want their organisations to live up to the values they fight for every day. That is essential if unions are to remain credible, effective and sustainable.”
The recent "State of the Sector" report by the @unionworkersunion.org is important reading.
@itfglobalunion.bsky.social staff, like all union staff, want their organisations to live up to their full potential. Voting to take industrial action is a last resort when internal mechanisms fail.
We are grateful for this message of solidarity from Unite LE128 Trade Union Staff branch.

Solidarity with @uniteucu.bsky.social from Unite ITF.
We join you in calling on your trade union leadership to respect our fundamental principles as a movement.
Trade union victimisation is a red line.
We're saying:
✅ Yes to protecting the rights of union representative
✅ Yes to an independent investigation into misogyny and misconduct that fully adheres to the scope of what was promised
✅ Yes to upholding genuine collective bargaining
Staff at the @itfglobalunion.bsky.social have started submitting their postal ballots for a renewed industrial action mandate.
If union reps can be abruptly dismissed, how can there be any accountability for management or effective enforcement of rights in our workplace?

Staff at the @itfglobalunion.bsky.social are now balloting again for industrial action.
There are three reasons:
1) Representation
2) Accountability
3) Fairness
These aren't separate issues. Our union reps have been fighting for accountability and to ensure staff are treated fairly.
While waiting for their hearings, they were abruptly sacked.
Management cited a need to “move on” despite being the cause of the delays.
