Yes, I have enjoyed reading the Star Trek novels and am glad I rediscovered them around 6 years ago at the start of the pandemic. While they are not canon, they do provide more details and fill in many gaps in the TV shows.

I suspect Captain Janeway wasn't looking forward to a visit from DTI when she returned back to Earth. 😀

Yes, I think Geordi rose the fastest in terms of rank from when we first saw him to his most recent appearance. I think he was Lt.(j.g) at the start of TNG and was Commodore by PIC S3.

Yes, kind of like that episode ("The Bonding") in which Worf befriends the son of one of his subordinates, accepts him into Worf's house and we don't hear about him again. 😉

I admit Dan Brown is also on my version of this list. I've read all his Robert Langdon books and enjoyed them, especially his first two, "The DaVinci Code" and "Angels and Demons". I ended up getting the Special Illustrated Editions of those because I wanted to see the visuals.
