It's come to my attention that some people have received AI-generated emails about collaborating with me and/or my agent. I have not and would never send out those emails. If you get one...it's NOT ME!

Breaking news: censorship isn't just for banned books anymore. My musical Between the Lines was cancelled due to the comments of a single parent.

I read an early draft of By Any Other Name while at the beach with my family. I remember the moment I first encountered Shakespeare in the text. I was not happy: βThis [man] was slighter, with a receding hairline and a weak chin badly camouflaged by a dark beardβ (144). Emilia immediately remembers reading one of his very bad plays as Hunsdonβs companion. At the bar, Shakespeare claims, βI, too, will write for the stageβ and Emilia thinks βBadlyβ (144). When reading this exchange, I thought: βJodi, you donβt have to be so mean about it.β Quickly, though, I realized that this is exactly the sentiment built by Shakespeareans Picoult wanted to poke atβthe belief that Shakespeare is a god beyond reproach.
I got up early & wrote 750 words of my article on working with @jodipicoult.bsky.social on her book, By Any Other Name. it feels good to be writing again.
maybe the brain zaps are working.
Reason #2385398 why I love @chrisbohjalian.bsky.social
Since I am so mired in book banning right now in my real life, I donβt think I will be writing about it anytime soon.
