the cost curve for BART service cuts is just absolutely brutal. Under any scenario, most of the savings from deep service cuts are just immediately cancelled out by reduced revenue because people stop riding

Heard, but like, a counterpoint: it would actually be great for a CA gov candidate to stand up and explicitly say βwe need to build housing because we will keep [vulnerable population] safe and send people who believe in that to Congressβ and then use that argument to follow through on [policy]
