Yesterday's Visions of Tomorrows to Come, by Picatrix 13 track album

My first album “Yesterday’s Visions of Tomorrows to Come” is out now on bandcamp. It’s heavily influenced by dark ambient, drone, noise, industrial and some minimalist composers.

I’ve been going through my music and collecting things for an upcoming release.

This is an electronic piece composed in the style of Arvo Pärt with some spoken word poetry I wrote over it that’s gonna be on it. I hope you enjoy!

Yeah like three different kids in the Infancy Gospel of Thomas, that one is nuts lmao

I think they’re super interesting! Occasionally ridiculous (Jesus straight up murks a kid in one of the infancy gospels) but also they provide a fascinating glimpse into some of the extreme diversity of early Christian thought and views.

You gotta check out the apocryphal gospels for the really fun stuff.

Here I am reading my poem The Hands I Held. I hope you enjoy - I think the repetition as well as the focus on assonance I tried to keep up gives it a musical quality.

The Hands I Held
(an attempt at a rondeau redoublé)

The hands I held, the lips I kissed
The hips that bliss your thrusting brought
Every embrace that now is missed
Now mists in time before we fought

I wondered when a date you sought
A weighty thought that I dismissed
If we would work the way we ought
The hands I held, the lips I kissed

When first you took and held my wrist
Compelled a twist in my heart fraught
Laid down and led in woodland tryst
The hips that bliss your thrusting brought

The fire flamed in my soul hot
As limbs were knot in forests’ midst
Blazed bright as bodies’ secrets taught
Every embrace that now is missed

Desires smouldered, embers hissed
And burned despite the cordwood’s rot
But fire tending we resist
Now mists in time before we fought

The fire’s dying was not caught
The end was wrought when doubts persist
The doubts you saw our future not
Now more I miss than hips that blissed?
The hands I held.

Here’s some more poetry, I wrote this today. It’s an attempt at a form called a rondeau redoublé. I hope you like it.

Doom was Foretold - short poem exploring the weight and heaviness of spondees.

The Color of the Setting Sun - Not quite a triolet about a friend who’s missed.

Masquerade - Another villanelle trying to capture the repetitiveness of feeling like you can never take off the public facing mask.

Over and Over and Over Again - Blank verse utilizing a lot of repetition across four quintains to capture the feel of endless monotony of houselessness.

An Elegy for Long Days and Seasons Past - more blank verse across four quintains meditating on time through the metaphor of seasons past

Tears of Red Gold was written when I was reading through the Poetic Edda for the first time. It’s in blank verse.

Merely Grendel is a recent villanelle written from the point of view of Grendel from Beowulf and John Gardner’s eponymous novel.

I made an 8-page zine of some of my poetry over the weekend, so I thought I’d post the pages as well as the assembled png. Here’s the front and back pages and the assembled png, check the comments for the individual poetry.

A poem I wrote last night. I wanted to capture how memories of times with a lover in bed feel like being set apart from the natural world, and the feeling of coming back to the present and their absence.

This is the important part! If you submit your application for a gender marker change, you will not receive your passport or your supporting documents back.

I know we’re all afraid right now, but talking to some of my homeless neighbors on this below-freezing day really lays bare how badly the system fails the most marginalized among us.

We have to organize for the unhoused, the incarcerated, and the undocumented too.

Fyi for folks in Portland, OR - if you think you see ICE and/or anyone you know is detained, call the Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition hotline: 1-888-622-1510. It’s answered every day until about 8pm!

if you require the force of the state to enforce the gender binary it probably isn't actually inate. i know that everyone knows this already and you can't debate them with facts and logic but this is driving me fuckin nuts

Actually pushing a boulder uphill every day sounds kind of nice. You have great job security, you get to work outside and get lots of exercise, don’t have to work with the public. Am I wrong or does it sound kinda great compared with lots of jobs people have now?
