When we moved house once I mourned leaving the good Waitrose behind. I got over it pretty quickly, but it was ever such a good shop.

If I have to make a complaint I always ask to speak to a manager, I'll tell the person who answers I appreciate that they are doing their best to help. But I did get into an argument one day with someone who just refused to put me through to a manager/complaints team - she was just being officious.

Gordon Brown has always come across as a very good man. Doesn't have the charisma of Blair or the smoothness of Cameron and does have character flaws, but still a very good man. And much better than many of those who briefed against him.

Most people aren’t chronically online or that invested in policies etc. But they know when someone/a group is obnoxious and rude and doesn’t align with their values. We’ll accept that if you’re on a date with someone rude to staff it’s a red flag. Why shouldn’t we treat candidates the same?
