DHS: It is horrific to see radical agitators bring children to their violent riots. PLEASE STOP ENDANGERING YOUR CHILDREN. ABC News β’ @ABCβ’ 7h Two children, including a 6-month-old, were hospitalized last night after federal agents deployed tear gas during Wednesday night's protests, according to the Minneapolis Office of Community Safety.... 7:32 AM β’ 1/16/26 β’ 145
The 6-month-old that DHS is tweeting about here lived in the neighborhood and the babyβs father was just trying to evacuate his family after federal agents had shot someone.
Here is one of the older renders from Sterling Bay.
Its a bit more car oriented with an additonal bridge where the new render leaves it out and seem to have a more pedestrian oriented space in that dead end street, which could provide a better connection off the trail and onto the Dickens Greenway
Very encouraging that a lot more though seems to be going into the layout of the 606 extension over the river than in renderings by the previous developer.

A mock-up design graphic from NACTO for a protected intersection. It features one-way bike lanes in all four directions, with a curb-protection ellipse on each corner shortening the turn radius of each corner for the general travel lane.

Congratulations to Chicago for seemingly being the first major U.S. city to remove a @nacto.bsky.social approved protected intersection.

This alignment is better than the Amtrak one and a great candidate for overhead electrification.

The southbound bus stop at Archer and Throop Street. Directly in front of the bus shelter the pavement is clear and dry. To the North and the South of the shelter the sidewalk is covered in several inches of ice and snow
Imagine getting off the bus at this stop on a major arterial street in Chicago.
The ramp comes down and you roll off with a wheelchair or walker.
I use this stop often with my kids.
The packed ice is about 4 inches thick. The trampled boot path is around 12 inches wide.
Insane but true fact: making US roads as safe as Canadian, Australian, or European roads would save more lives than eliminating murder from the US.
Ya I'm not saying the bus is bad. I want a lot more buses and trains. Just the ratio I'm debating with fellow urbanists.
Sure sounds like current board members are actively trying to sabotage the hard-fought #RevenuesAndReform of SB2111 through an amendatory veto.
We're not done yet: call @govpritzker.illinois.gov's office and tell him to sign SB2111 **as-is**!

Worst of both worlds between a train and a bus. Not the worst of all possible worlds...
Rubber wheeled guided metros are the worst of both worlds. All the efficiency losses and micro plastics of a bus and all the construction costs of a train.
It is easily the best rubber wheeled vehicle. But it's still rubber wheeled. And heavy rubber wheeled vehicles are the worst offenders when it comes to micro plastics and road wear.
Trains cost that much more than busses because they are that much better than busses.

Also contains parking reform! This is a preliminary map of Chicagoland based on the People Over Parking Act provision.
It would also apply downstate though!
So not only does the massive transit package passed last night fill the funding gap, it *boosts* ops funding by roughly the size of the gap, eliminates parking minimums within a half mile of rail stations, and gives the new regional transit board sweeping powers to do public development
