It pisses me off how the 1993 movie was originally going to be so much closer to what a weird interpretation of a Mario movie should have been and it looked so neat but then like Noooo Fuck you we need to be bootleg Blade Runner.
mario 1993 is a quintessential capital G guilty pleasure for me. it being entertaining and interesting to talk about doesn’t undo that everybody on set had a miserable time and if you call it a proletariat masterpiece i am going to Get you.

Oh no yeah the digifig stuff was really dumb, both for how it was used and implemented in everything.
Just the other characters that were actually built with bricks and didn't have the screen stuff built in were great, and kinda hoped we'd just eventually get Mario like this proper instead.
I liked the brick built stuff...
It had a unique style to it and I think it was a unique way to make the cast feel Mario-y than normal Lego-y.
It is cool we're getting normal minifigs but think it's a shame the old line didn't even get to Waluigi and Daisy.
