1) This is beyond horrific; 2) this does not encourage me to visit the US; 3) I don't think ticket sales for the World Cup and the Olympics in LA will do very well as more people hear about stuff like this.

it's almost 20° outside so we've opened a bunch of windows in the house
Lennox has deemed the crackers a success
Sad thing is that as early as the 1920s, NZ's Public Works Dept recognised the need for hydroelectricity to power trains, urban and interprovincial. And in the 1940s, coal strikes made electrifying the NIMT a priority—a homegrown source of power. Alas, we've become dependent on imported fuels anyway
go Scotland! alba gu brath
Oh this makes me cross. I've spent years teaching mature students w/o A-levels. This totally depends on the student, their background, their spark to learn & the support they get. Seeing them light up w their love of learning & changing their lives for the better.

Real Housewives of Melbourne were true innovators for boldly making one of the genre’s most beloved guest star archetypes - “Psychic Who Is Confidently Wrong About Everything” - a linchpin of the main cast
thrilled the new London one has done the same with “Hot, Ruthless Gay Man Who Knows Everyone”
I grew up on the 90s reaction against an 80s TV culture where moral education was seen as one of the main points of TV. It’s weird to see that viewpoint return.

Just envision that a Government came to power and cancelled a whole raft of essential programmes which would reduce the country's dependence on fossil fuels, only for there to be a once in a century oil crisis.
homemade crackers in a container
homemade sourdough discard crackers.
sourdough discard, melted butter, Parmesan, thyme, black pepper.
if Ashley likes them I'll start making them a lot more because I like crackers.
I need an offset spatula though
So I guess that pro se plaintiff was an attorney. But, still.
To paraphrase Le Guin: fantasy is escapist, and we must take as many with us as possible.
There is no greater feeling than knowing something I wrote helped another soul escape during difficulties. I’ve been through many hospital visits with many books, myself. 💙💚💜
i got rejected for a permanent captain job today at the City and I'm pissed because they said I don't meet the basic qualifications and that's not true
Latin beisbol fans are very enthusiastic in general, but Nicaraguan fans seem to bring it to a new level.

I’d like to see someone take the USA to the woodshed in this tournament, but I’m pretty sure Brazil was a likely candidate.
Astonishing try from a 139kg prop! Loved how the Guardian live blog put it: “romp[ing] like a reanimated oil rig to the line”

New escalation: Ukraine accuses Hungary of unlawfully detaining seven employees of the Oschadbank at the border and stealing two vehicles carrying $40 million, €35 million and 9 kg of gold.
"The whereabouts of Oschadbank employees are currently unknown," the bank says in a statement.
Ok Hungarian govt now says they will deport the Ukrainian hostages. I guess whatever they are up to with the seized cash is up to courts now. Glad people are out of harm's way at least.
There I was the other day, tutoring a student for his MA dissertation, a student I first taught as an undergraduate in 1994, straight off an Access Course, who became a teacher, and is now the head of an International school in India.
