A lot of reporting on local law enforcement “refusing to work with ICE” is somewhat dishonest. You really cannot reduce deportations and detention without reducing policing and arrests, which requires a wholesale reexamination of the whole criminal system.

What is being labeled “controversial” today is the very knowledge Texas will need to survive tomorrow.

The question is no longer whether higher education can be saved as it is.

The question is whether we are ready to imagine—and build—what comes next.
