Leaving a job can be tough. You'll miss those people you've spent a lot of time with. Not leaving a job but instead moving to a different part of the building is worse. The paradox of Tolerance says the only thing as tolerant society cannot tolerate is intolerance itself.

Character A: That protest wasn't enough! We need to do more! B: Stop! This kind of talk actually hurts our cause. I know what you're trying to do. You think if you say: A: We need to do more than we did! Group, looking motivated: Ok! Let's do more! or, A: That action made a big difference. Group, walking away: Well, we did it! Everyone go home.

B: People are the most motivated when they can see their actions causing an immediate change and positive effect. And they won't want to repeat actions they think didn't have a big effect. A simple graph shows a stick figure getting demotivated when the time to reach their result is too long. So this is the real effect of your words: A: We need to do more than we did! Group, concerned: That didn't do anything? Maybe my actions don't really matter... A: That action made a big difference. Group, celebrating: Maybe my actions really matter! What should we do next? The fascists WIN by making us think we are POWERLESS.

It's natural to think that the perfect event, if BIG and STRONG enough, will solve everything overnight. One person alone has a small skillset, a small sphere of influence, and a small impact. The event that finally tips the scale may feel like a special event that finally did something different. Change WILL come from the sum total of all our small actions added together. In the next panel the pile of rainbow sand on the right has become larger and tips the scale in the opposite direction.

A: Is it just me or is there something fishy about this account? B: There is! Let's call these "Bad Actor Accounts" Now before I tell you more about these, it's VERY important you NEVER openly accuse an account of this! "Badjacketing" harms our movement just as much as these accounts do! The internet is full of bots and bad actors. Here I'll tell you about a certain kind that fascists are employing to undermine our resistance. They look like innocent liberals at first glance, reposting progressive stuff & regurgitating our talking points. But in certain circumstances they ACTIVATE! Advocating for violence, or sowing dissonance and despair in our community.

Example language & how they hurt the movement! Remember, the majority of Americans voted for this! Only 1/3rd of Americans outright voted for Trump, and many disagree with the extreme parts of his policy. This argument makes our movement feel small and alone. Marches and signs won't change a thing. Effective movements incorporate many different strategies. Marches and demonstrations are an effective strategy. This comment makes us feel powerless. MAGA deserve to me fed to alligators. They aren't human. Dehumanizing the opposition will NOT build the world we want. This paves the way for violence in our movement, damaging our image and threatening our safety. Before you internalize any seemingly-liberal argument, ask yourself: Does this build movement, or stop it in its tracks? Does this grow unity in our ranks, or tear us apart? Does this advocate for peace, or for violence?

A: Everyone look! I found one of those bad accounts! C: Wait... But I said something like that yesterday... B: This bad actor "language" is used by our side too! Don't "Badjacket:" Accusing an individual of being an imposter trying to undermine a movement. If you want to reply, try this: D: See, that comment is actually counter-productive for XYZ reasons C: Oh no, I hadn't realized! E: What?! You want the fascists to win? I think you eat babies!!1! B: Even after the second response, avoid creating an atmosphere of mistrust! Just block and move on. D: But I wanna fight back! B: You did! You undermined their attack and educated anyone else who comes across the thread. Bystander reaction is just as important.

Back with another educational minicomic! I wanted to finish it sooner than this but yknow current events don't have the best effects on one's mental health.
