NEW: Believe it or not, it’s that time of year: the Wisconsin Supreme Court election is next month.
Liberals have a huge opportunity: if they win, they can lock down the majority of this court thru 2030.
That means they’d have it in the next presidential race, a big democracy guardrail.

Trump has abused the pardon power of the presidency like no president before him. Just shameless corruption.
This is a chilling crime. A shame on our country. The Iranian ship was unarmed. The US knew this. The sailors were murdered by our navy, and the survivors were left to die at sea.

Democrats may not be able to prevent Mullin's confirmation, but they can certainly turn his track record of offense and stupidity into two days of televised humiliation so spectacular that he is wounded in Trump's eyes from day 1. That is the job.
Great points. And please, start hammering Trump as being both gullible and easily manipulated by Israel and KSA. Whether for financial reasons or just flattery, he's a willing sucker. We don't know for sure but likely a combination of the two.
did all the iphone plants open yet? did tim apple do that
Read @virginiaheffernan.bsky.social on the "intellectually insecure reactionaries" around Epstein. Much here that I did not know

I wrote about how the US and Israel carried out an attack on an Iranian girls school on par with the OKC bombing and US media relegated it to a back page story. No stand alone evening news segments, no front page stories, it made A11 in the NYT then everyone moved on.
the New York Times practically created an entire "leftist campus antisemitism" vertical. I will be very curious to see how much attention it pays to this, and how clear it is about what it means.
Turns out lawlessness is not a winning strategy. See you at Nuremberg 2.0
The very existence of commercially available glasses with Internet-connected cameras sold by Meta, a company built entirely on hiding the costs of services in negative privacy externalities, is an indictment of U.S. tech law and policy. This is an unfixable product from a fundamentally bad company.
In the past, anyone of any integrity would have resigned after this sort of thing.
Every time some right wing fucker talks about migrants who commit crimes, I go ask them why they're not commenting on the crimes that Jan6ers have gone onto commit (two have been arrested this week). This guy features prominently.
You all say Donald Trump is anti-immigrant, but did you know his wife is an immigrant? *drops mic, saunters triumphantly back into the Nazi bar*
that's a good question. I'd love to see a few visualizations that present this data
FT comments section this morning - saying what everyone else is thinking, right?
Now that Republicans have done Trump's bidding by blocking limits on his war powers, remember that in doing this, they are also relieving *themselves* of the obligation to vote on the enormously consequential decision of whether to go to war. Craven abdication.

this one fucked me up so much. guy turns his life around after a drug conviction, becomes a happy, beloved, pet rescuing houseboat dad who undersells his mechanic services so poor folks can afford them. ICE grabs him one day out of the hospital for heart problems which then kill him. horrifying

Balint to Noem: "You're the secretary of DHS -- for now. And you think you're immune from accountability. But I promise you this: one day he is not gonna be president anymore. And when that day comes, we will still be here. And in hearings like this, we are going to continue to prove your guilt."
James Walkinshaw.
In Oversight hearing, Walkinshaw is going thru Trump's fraud pardonees. He mentions a pardoned GOP politician who was convicted of bribery, and mentions Tom Homan along the way.
"Where is the hearing on the $1.3B that Trump has relieved his pardon fraudsters of paying their victims?"
This is what weak and insecure people think confidence looks like: buffoonish bluster and swagger, like a 12-year-old bully. It doesn‘t inspire trust or security. It inspires grave concern for the lives of the people serving our nation whose fate is in the hands of these overcompensating oafs.
he outlines this massive surveillance society under the pretense that ethical, responsible people will be in charge, undermined by his effort to cement a permanent zealot kakistocracy in a country too corrupt to have working regulators or corporate accountability of any kind
Read through this thread. Every Senator that voted to confirm this guy should be taken to task. So incredibly unqualified, unprofessional, and dangerous. Our troops are less safe across the world with this guy in charge.
Here are the specific 11 instances in which the DHS inspector general claims DHS leaders obstructed his investigations, per the letter:
I think MBZ pushing for strikes is another one. The direct financial ties between KSA and Trump World provide a lot of influence.
I don't think there is a more apt metaphor for the modern GOP than members of the administration uncritically parroting unhinged John Birch Society slogans without knowing any context or background at all and failing to be in on a joke, personally.
Trump's declining cognitive function has to be playing at least some role in the administration's inability to articulate a coherent justification for attacking Iran. With Trump unable to do it, the job is up to whichever official has a mic in their face at any moment - and none of them can agree.
