I've got literally hundreds of memos, receipts, telegraph carbon copies, payslips, goods invoices, waybills for Mansfield Station 1860-1890s. Day to day, mundane stuff of running a railway station. Customer complaints. Managing the staff. Supplies and stores. Chimney sweeping and carpet cleaning.

When you pick up some Stationmaster's paperwork from the 1860s and pencilled on the back of a memo is an accident report. Totally unexpected amongst lost umbrellas, broken watches, overtime requests. Now, where to find out more?

Nope. Far too nuanced for their addled brains. And you know their racism. Jesus was a white American evangelical and if we drop enough bombs he'll come back.

'I saw the infinite love of God. I saw also that there was an ocean of darkness and death, but an infinite ocean of light and love, which flowed over the ocean of darkness. And in that also I saw the infinite love of God; and I had great openings' (George Fox, Journal, 1647).

*Knowing where to find* information relevant to your field of study is a central pillar of academic competency, and one of the skills a PhD imparts (although by no means confined to those with PhDs). Academics aren't just people who know stuff and have written stuff - they know where to find stuff.

The Children Speaking
from the Rubble
Tell us, what do the living do?
Do you dance? Do you make bread
with each other? Do you walk in the parks
in autumn, smelling the late summer flowers?
Is it true that some things get to grow old?
What is the world doing now? Are you fighting
with sticks and stones? Do you remember
us? Do you lie down under the stars
and listen to the birds passing overhead,
and do you get to feel the little wings of your own
wild heart be opened? You have somewhere
to go then, don't you? Go. Don't let us keep you.
We have names. We are safe. We're at school.
We are hiding in our favorite little places, waiting
for you to tap us on the shoulders, to tell us
it was just a joke, come home now,
and the bombs and boots are just a game we're playing,
and the bread and milk are waiting on the table,
and the moon is new, and the gardens are in blossom.
This sentence is the length of one of our shoes.

Israel & Saudi Arabia pushed the U.S. to attack Iran.
Netanyahu killed 72,000 people in Gaza, mostly women & children.
Saudi Arabia is a brutal dictatorship that allows no opposition.
These are the leaders who want to bring βfreedomβ to Iran?
Does anyone really believe that?

The popularity of βnew antiquarianismβ challenges how we understand research impact - LSE Impact
Research in the humanities is not confined to academic institutions. Particularly in history & archaeology where "new antiquarianism" creates public research.
Hmm. Must all "Impact" fit into REF? Is REF so incapable of recognising Humanities research that does not flow from academic researcher to an audience? Most of all, what is the evidence for these claims? I'm interested in the argument, but sceptical.

I'm not concerned about those who question God or even doubt God. Thatβs just a natural part of faith.
My concern are those who claim to know the mind of God better than anyone and act as though they have the right to impose their beliefs on everyone else.

ARGH! Responding to peer reviewers comments. Because I'm poor, and don't have my SCONUL card any more, I've had to buy digital copies of academic books. Horribly expensive ones. BUT! some of them don't have page numbers or pagination the same as the printed version. Reviewer wants page numbers. How?

Sometimes I feel such a fraud on a Sunday. Going through the ropes. Not feeling a thing. Today the sense of the real presence when Presiding was almost overwhelming. Just wanted to sing and praise and pray. Feeling of immense joy and peace.
