Now that I have some desk time, I'm going to expand this into a brief thread to lay out the basics of the proposal that we discussed today for spending this unbudgeted housing money.

Feels a lot faster than other planned districts, which, good!
good thread and hearty congratulations to everyone who got this done. this specific post reminds me that i am prepared (conditional on time) to make the case that marx (or at least the surplus approach to value and distribution following him) sets up a case for a supply side approach to housing.
You're right afaik

Screaming
i frankly think we should stop putting andrew hoan in the paper altogether at this point. we've evolved beyond needing to know his thoughts
Yesterday, Oregon's legislature voted to ban underfunded inclusionary zoning from the Portland metro area.
It's a big turnaround, and I hope a path forward for other states too.

Great article from Taylor! One thing that doesn't get mentioned is what the natural variability of the number of people in those brackets is due to stock sales. At those income levels that's a non negligible source of income that has a lot of variability to it. Ditto for the total amount collected.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
This is a document that bureau staff should have produced. Super grateful for Green & Morillo's offices in creating this but they shouldn't have needed to do that.

If you're at the airport and Kristi Noem is doing the ominous little message from the TSA screens, you no longer have to do anything she says. Leave your laptop in the case, whatever.

Really efficient system of government we have here. Very capable of making mundane safety changes quickly. Definitely not overly burdened by bureaucracy
Another good day for Lori Chavez-DeRemer
Cyclists using a new protected bike lane by the train station and bull fighting arena.
A bi-directional bike path with rideshare parking. The pavement could use some TLC.
One of the wider bike paths I noticed along a busy one-way arterial street.
A shared street in the city center.
ValΓ¨nciaβs protected bike lanes.
Cons:
- bi-directional paths squeezed into busy arterial streets
- VERY narrow travel lanes
- some paths needed maintenance and/or smoother pavement
Pros:
- an expanding network
- lots of shared streets in the city center
- nice biking weather π
What's the context?

Very exciting to see new single stair proposals in Victoria BC! A result of municipal leadership, BC Building Code Changes, and a New City Plan. These builds would have been completely impossible several years ago and now weβre seeing the results - larger units + cross ventilation #singlestairs
Why don't we call people without rizz, unrizzen?π€
Nearly the entire cost of the 2030 Bike Master Plan
For the cost of the Moda Center bill they could give every Portland resident $920.

Cap I405 and baby, you got a stew going
San Jose FD, for the CAL FIRE single-stair report, did a simulation of evacuation from a building, both in a stairway segregated from firefighters going up and then shared. It was an interesting Rohrschach test for the group β the FDs thought it looked really bad, the others thought it was fine.
Extremely legit

me: itβs good actually that properties in default are changing hands with new investors with rosy expectations
