For sure. I think a major percentage of people who've launched a game are just checking to see it installed correctly, and then close it right away with the intent of getting to it eventually.
I'm still not a big fan of game achievements generally, but it's nice as a dev to be able to check the percentages on Steam and see that hey, someone beat the game today. Great feeling.

Watching Pokémon streamers fail a quiz question about the Heavy Ball modifier by guessing 2x/3x/4x is giving me a real “Average Pokémon streamer probably only knows the catch rate modifiers of the main few balls, and Heavy Balls, of course” moment
The worst part about having a game that's escaped containment (read: "Is up for download") is having to balance the sentiments "I need to push the patch for this bug right the hell now" and "I need to be methodical about this so I don't break anything else in the process."

The moral of the story is that if you have the hubris to put an autosave in your game, make sure part of your testing ritual is to quit the game and load the autosave over and over and over at random points.
This phantom race condition I've been struggling to diagnose seems NOT be a race condition, rather the game autosaving where it shouldn't, which breaks things if the player quits at the wrong time then loads the autosave.
At least, I hope there isn't ALSO a race condition.

I've been playing the Humongous junior adventures with my four year old. They're so good. Funny, charming, beautifully animated, and with great lead characters that are excellent role models for kids. Tami and co did an incredible job on them, and I hope to shine a light on that in the documentary.

This cover of FM Towns #ZakMcKracken still bugs me. We got Fujitsu to put more clothes on Annie Larris, but they wouldn't change the damsel in distress/fawning pose. I made sure to make all the women in Zak to be self-sufficient, strong, smart, problem-solving, and this totally went against that.
There's a secret animation hidden in the data files for Freddi Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds where Freddi lets Eddie eat Luther. Artist Tom Verre drew this one day to let off steam. You can enable it by modifying the game's HEINI file.
