Well, some people in senior positions are staying in trying to mitigate the current shit-storm. The hope being that the mid-terms create meaningful change.
At the end of the day we are accountable to civilian leadership and this has rarely been a bigger issue. But it is the way it should be.

You can assume that pretty much every time Trump opens his mouth about the military he manages to make me even angrier and I could never stand him.
Now the issue is that many senior officers who affect a much larger area than you might expect are leaving key positions. Some out of disgust, some are forced out and others get transferred without warning. Trump and Kegstand want loyalty before ability.
Trump takes this to a new level though and this is cratering his support with both active duty and retired military, which is a good thing.
As to Trump's comments about us (yeah, I am retired but it is a recent thing and I served for 40 years so it will always be us when discussing the military) he may have said but plenty of other Presidents have acted like this but were smart enough not to say it out loud.
