Just another example of the horrible squad planning last summer for me. Not only did we walk away from parts of why we were able to win the league last season. But Hughes & Co really didn't catch the direction the league was going with who and how they recruited.

Personally think it's as much about the type of players we bought compared to the type of players we sold. It's not as much the fact "they're softer" in essence, it's that's it's never been their game in the first place. For me we sold several "grifters" and brought in "finesse players".

What I can't seem to have seen been mentioned after tuesday's debacle, was the fact that Edwards actually started with somewhat of a weakened side that day. Several of those players that came on and really caused us issues, will probably start tonights game 🤪😬 Yeah not confident! #LFC #Redsky #ynwa

So do I, and probably most of us. We had diffucult periods under him between the sucsess for sure, but you always felt there was something good coming in the horizon. One thing with Klopp, even at the worst of times, he generally trusted his squad even if they weren't the best options possible.

Of course, I agree with you there. Of course there are probably more of "the normal fans" amongst the Spurs fanbase than there are "screamers". And they deserve sympathy for sure. But in general, being as said, way too much online, fans of London clubs in general do my head in at times 🤪😂

And... It left us with far more control in midfield especially, and the only space the opposition were left with in the end, was out wide and hail mary passes in behind VVD and Gomez/Matip who picked up those balls with ease. Now the area we struggle the most with is centrally all over the pitch.

... We weren't as expansive in our press as many think (at least not all the time). We set traps, forcing teams to play the ball centrally, with us pressing space as much as we pressed certain players. That gave us far more space in behind the oppositions defence to transition into.

... can't completly give up pressing from the front. But, when it's this poorly executed, I feel the solution in some way or form should be setting up in a mid block. Press the wide areas first and foremost, lure teams playing into the middle of the pitch and pounce. Our best period under Klopp..

Get the press from the front will probably be even worse if Szobo plays deeper. But it's awful in general even with him in the 10 and pressing from the front. Simply because the press is not in sync anyway, and more often than not leaves him running as a headless chicken on his own. Og course we...

... well, and most defenders, even of a lesser quality will tell you that's far easier to defend. One easy solution that's amazing has not been used to mitigate the issue with ball progression from deep, is play Szobo as one of the two deeper in midfield with his passing ability. 🤷

... problems has made this far more prevalent this season. Both losing thru tragedy (Jota), and also selling our best pressers from the front, has meant we're in many cases don't have a functioning press at all in large parts of games. And not having the ability on the ball from deep from TAA...

That's parts of it yes. But the issues go far beyond that sadly. We can't create when we control games, and we have no control if we let loose and create to score goals. But how easily we get both run thru or passed thru the lines centrally, has actually been a issue since last season. But other..

Why Liverpool's Problems Are Even Worse Than You Think
YouTube video by The Adam Clery Football Channel
As usual @adamclery.bsky.social have made a great video. As a #LFC it's sadly a scary watch, even if many have "clocked" parts of the mentioned problems for quite some time now. Honestly, even last season, parts of the problems we struggle badly with now were visible. youtu.be/sO3Q7bYkumM?...

I honestly would'nt be at all suprised if we see #THFC annouce the departure of Igor Tudor at about 10:00 ish a'clock today. If they stay with him at the helm, I truly believe they're going down them. The body language, the lack of fight, the infighting between Spurs players atm 😬 #LFC #Redsky

I watch a lot (!) of football across quite a few different leagues, and I can safely say PL is amongst the most boring leagues too watch atm, without question. For me, RN, I far prefer watching the Bundesliga & League Un games ahead of the PL games. They're simply much more fluid and entertaining.

A page from an article written by Mo Stewart. The picture features Liverpool head coach Arne Slot walking with his head bowed after another defeat
Football often tells coaches that you're only as good as your last game, and Arne Slot is certainly finding that out this season. Another good run was ended by a bad defeat last night, and this one came at the worst possible time.

Silly thing I know. It's of course much more complex in reality. But people with the most pure intentions from the start, slowly walking away from their own ideas and basic integrity. Just to maintain their position of power. How can we then trust a word that comes out of your mouth?

Just a thought popping into my head RN (and of course it's a massive generalisation but still):
Maybe amongst the most pure people are the ones getting into politics to create real change. But also some of the most corrupted amongst us, are the ones who stays in politics seeing it as their career.

... we got atm. Even if I still feel it's a weak squad, that's been poorly assembled by the ones ahead of Slot in the first place, and has issues any manager would like struggle with. But yes, for me, Alonso would be my preferred option going forward. But we all know nothing will happen RN.
