Blue Owl Capital Inc. is dramatically increasing the amount of money investors can pull from one of its private credit funds after being hit with a deluge of redemption requests last month.

The firm is allowing investors in Blue Owl Technology Income Corp., a business development company, to withdraw as much as 17% of the non-traded fund’s net assets, worth about $685 million, well in excess of the 5% quarterly limit the firm had previously set, according to regulatory filings. It also amended the deadline for investors to redeem their shares to Jan. 8 from Dec. 31.

Construction on the project was well under way when Meta announced a new financing deal last month. Meta moved the project, called Hyperion, off its books into a new joint venture with investment manager Blue Owl Capital OWL 1.89%increase; green up pointing triangle. Meta owns 20%, and funds managed by Blue Owl own the other 80%. Last month, a holding company called Beignet Investor, which owns the Blue Owl portion, sold a then-record $27.3 billion of bonds to investors, mostly to Pimco.

Meta is quietly expanding its $10 billion Hyperion AI data center, now sprawling to four times the size of Manhattan’s Central Park | Fortune Meta’s latest 1,400-acre land deal in Louisiana signals plans for a vast, multiphase AI campus unlike anything the U.S. has seen.

Scoop: I learned Meta has quietly purchased roughly 1,400 acresβ€”nearly 2X size of Manhattan’s Central Parkβ€”next to its 2,250-acre Hyperion AI data center site in Richland Parish, La., Fortune has learned. I also observed active work underway on the newly acquired land.

The Blue Owl In The Coal Mine - And The 2026 Data Center Debt Reckoning
Hey there, how are you? Long day? It's about to get longer, because I'm about to teach you about Blue Owl Capital, a "Business Development Company," and one of those "private credit" firms you've heard about recently.

Per Investopedia:

Created by the U.S. Congress in 1980, business development companies (BDCs) are specialized, closed-end funds designed to fuel economic growth by investing in small- to medium-sized enterprises and financially distressed businesses. These organizations not only provide the necessary capital to help emerging firms in their early phases but also assist struggling companies in restoring fiscal health.

Publicly traded on major stock exchanges, such as the AMEX and Nasdaq, BDCs present high-risk and high-reward opportunities for investors. They empower smaller, nonaccredited investors to participate in the growth of young and distressed companies, differentiating themselves from traditional venture capital funds.
Things are a little more complex with Blue Owl, which has a publicly-traded stock called OWL that represents the parent company, and OBDC, the business development company that's making all of these investments. There are other pieces, but they're not important to what we're talking about.

Sort of.

Blue Owl lends a lot of money, and has been a huge part of the AI data center boom, while also finding itself incredibly exposed to both CoreWeave and OpenAI's likely insolvencies, other than when it spent $1 billion on IPI Partners' 2.2GW of data centers in October 2024.

Blue Owl's Exposure To CoreWeave
In August 2024, Blue Owl announced a $5 billion joint venture with Chirisa Technology Parks and PowerHouse Data Centers, with the intention to "deploy up to $5 billion for turnkey AI/HPC data center developments supporting CoreWeave and other hyperscale and enterprise customers."
In December 2024, the joint venture raised $600 million to build a data center in Chesterfield Virginia, ostensibly for the construction.
In May 2025, the joint venture raised another $750 million.
In August 2025, the joint venture, which was at this point closed (?), would raise $4 billion...to build data centers for CoreWeave in Lancaster Pennsylvania. This data center had previously been announced in July 2025, but did not at the time disclose any involvement from the joint venture.
You may wonder what happened in Virginia, and the answer is fire!

In September 2025, Chirisa Technology Parks' data center caught fire for the second time in two months, and according to Data Center Dynamics, two of the three planned data centers are still in progress.

Blue Owl's Exposure To OpenAI
Stargate Abilene ($3 billion): Blue Owl organized a $3.4 billion joint venture with Crusoe and Primary Digital Infrastructure for Stargate Abilene (OpenAI) that was later expanded to $15 billion.
Stargate New Mexico ($3 billion): Blue Owl sunk around $3 billion into Stargate New Mexico, a project that does not appear to have started construction, and either helped or is helping organize around $18 billion in loans according to The Information.
And then, of course, there was Michigan.

Last week, Blue Owl (a private investment firm) pulled out of the $10bn Stargate Michigan data center. This is catastrophic for the industry - Blue Owl pulled together *all the money* that has gone into the biggest data center projects in the world.

Exclusive | Epstein prison guard googled him minutes before his body was found β€” and made mysterious deposit days before his suicide: DOJ Tova Noel was one of the two Metropolitan Correctional Center workers accused of falsifying records to say they checked on Epstein throughout the night before his suicide.

New records show a guard searched Jeffrey Epstein’s name minutes before his body was found. This follows thousands in unexplained cash deposits to that guard’s account days prior. These aren't coincidences; they’re receipts. We need a full independent investigation now.

Politico has confirmed two things from CENTCOM.

1. Trump has no plan for how to end this war (that actually might be the plan).

2. Even if we started scaling back today, the military won't be able to withdraw from Iran until September 2026.

Note: No clear objective has been declared.
