Interesting explanations like this is why following letterers is always an insightful experience.
I mean, I'm just using that term, but I like to use thinner fonts on some stuff. For an example, see my Flash Gordon vs my Thundarr. Flash has a thinner, classier font, but Thundarr has a heavier more energetic font.
Hopefully over the summer. I'm just too swamped with work to do them this term.
Look at those kind words about my work on this amazing book.
ESTUARY #1 REVIEW:
"Itโs just such a fantastic start, the type of first issue that made me go online and look up when part two is out (sadly, not until May!)." - @comicsbeat.bsky.social

Much deserved @besspallares.bsky.social praise:
"Pallares has been cultivating some of the best titles in comics in the past few years... thereโs a clarity of vision in the titles that Pallares works on, and Estuary is just the latest in a great streak."

For all these reasons and more, make sure you add Estuary: A Ghost Story to your pull-list! @timdanielcomics.bsky.social @dbandry.bsky.social @stevecanon.bsky.social @tayloresposito.bsky.social
I think just choosing a better font is the way to go. I use more subdued fonts with non super hero stories when needed.
I only use it if it's a kids book with very limited dialogue.
It's not wrong. per say, but it will make reading and lettering more difficult to go mixed case. Long story short, there is more negative space that is distracting in the balloons, and also, it needs more space in the balloons because of the descenders on the letters.
Name a publisher, I'll reply with if I've worked for them or didn't. Always good to have lists of places.
Why, thank you for the kind words, Chris!
I think I did a couple for them.
Only 2 weeks left to pre order Estuary! Check the details and covers here. Note that page count...

Raise your hand if we havenโt worked together or just not recently enough and we should. Especially if you have something with your publisher just waiting for a letterer.
Just found this page on the Simon and Schuster website. A nice list of all my Mad Cave books. www.simonandschuster.com/authors/Tayl...
Tired. Could use a break.
#ama while I chill out on the couch.
Just looking at my logs so far for the year, and I've already hit over 1,100 pages in two months. Add in that January is always a slow start and February is the shortest month, and I'm on a pretty good clip so far.
