Thereโs an elephant in the room
Thereโs an elephant in the room
I honestly donโt think Iโve anything left to say about COVID-19.
Whatever we say, itโs ignored by the authorities.
Itโs also being ignored large numbers of people who should know better.
For me, this โฌ๏ธ post sums up one big reason why weโre not getting anywhere.
The Government should be addressing the causes of sickness and disability
The Government should be addressing the causes of sickness and disability
They don't want to admit there are so many people with long Covid. If they did they wouldn't be able to cut benefits.
I will repeat this again. COVID isn't over. The Neoliberals decided their wealth was better than your health. ๐ทโฎ๏ธโ๏ธโ
Tired of half a story.
COVID-19 isnโt over.
An estimated one in ten people have long Covid in the U.K.
Infection control isnโt being taken seriously by the Government or the NHS.
COVID-19 affects the brain, so is bad for your mental health.

Yes, this is a global crisis. Itโs not just the US who have a problem.
Most of the public are oblivious though as the authorities donโt talk about it. For example, the authorities are happy to let COVID-19 harms get blamed on everything else.
Itโs getting worse.
Thatโs because the ยซย leftย ยป you are referring to is actually the pseudo left, working hand in hand with capitalist governments to dismantle public health.
Hereโs scientifically grounded coverage of the COVID pandemic:

I have repeatedly run into leftists of all stripes that call me a โcovid dead enderโ for not wanting to ignore this.
But how is never ending increases of death and disability not a dead end to them is what Iโd like to know.
Theyโre no longer left, unfortunately. But even if they were, Iโm not sure theyโd do anything.
I'm thinking of the leftist content creators I follow who never mention Covid. They go to conferences, travel, no masks. Then they get sick, no testing, "just a cold". They disappear for a while or work sick. Over & over. They talk endlessly about social justice issues but never this one.
Nope, the left. The right obviously don't care & liberals think they care but there are self-proclaimed leftists who support marginalized groups but are silent when it comes to masking & otherwise protecting disabled & immunocompromised people (& all of us tbh because Covid does not discriminate.)
Labour arguably stopped being left leaning since Blair.
This government is just as much as a disgrace to this entire nation as much as the Tories are.
Starmer's father was a toolmaker and he made a tool in his son
A picture of my lungs damaged by an auto-immune disease. Normally X-rays would show dark spaces. Instead my lungs look as though someone has prepared them for an old black and white horror movie with those fake spider webs.
SOCIAL MURDER is a term coined by Friedrich Engels in 1845 to describe when the political and social elite knowingly permit conditions to exist where the poorest and most vulnerable in society are deprived of the necessities of life and ate thus place in a position in which they cannot reasonably be expected to live and will inevitably meet and early and unnatural death.
Not that we can call Labour left any more but the total absence of divergence from Tory policies on Covid is making me very angry being CEV and not having been told by anyone that I am not any more.
Large sections of the left started ignoring the pandemic in 2022 and they now have nothing to say about increasing levels of sickness and disability.
They (rightly) criticise welfare benefit cuts but offer no critique on how we got here.
Yes it's fucking disgraceful. Labour are cutting funds for the disabled. Keep on masking beautiful people ๐ท. The government seem intent on mass democide.
The infected blood scandal is claiming the lives of 2 people a week. Theyโre still waiting for compensation. Disgraceful.
How many are dying under our โliving with Covidโ policies?
How many are being disabled by our โliving with Covidโ policies?
Will they get compensation?
The number of long term sick & disabled has skyrocketed since 2020.
Growth in the economy is virtually non-existent.
Welfare cuts are being made.
Yet how many journalists have joined the dots to the huge impact the pandemic & Covid has had & is still having?
Itโs pathetic.
โTwo million people in the UK have long Covid, according to the Office for National Statisticsโ.
Estimates vary.
According to another survey published recently by the BBC, it may be 1 in 10 people (or more) in the U.K. with long Covid.

โYoung people living with debilitating symptoms caused by long Covid feel abandoned. Kaylee, 17, a once promising gymnast, developed the virus on her 12th birthday & experiences dizziness & shortness of breath, causing her to miss school & give up the sport she lovesโ.
Long Covid is a massive issue.
Despite what youโre being told this isnโt a U.K. only problem.
Itโs true we may be in a worse position than other countries for many reasons, including austerity & โopening upโ before most other countries, but other countries also have a big long Covid problem.
Look at the US.
โSince the pandemicโฆโ says Liz Kendall in her Commons statement.
Thatโs part of the problem. Labour wonโt admit COVID-19 is still having a big impact.
COVID-19 can weaken the immune system, which means that people are getting ill more often.
Long term sickness is escalating.
The NHS GP-Patient Survey is 5 times bigger than the ONS Survey with nearly 700K respondents.
They estimate over 3M people in the U.K. have long Covid. COVID-19 is still causing long Covid yet weโre doing nothing about it.
We should prevent illness not punish disabled people!
As far as Iโm aware the only U.K. politicians who have posted about long Covid Awareness Day today are the leaders of @TheGreenParty.
Well done to @carla_denyer and @AdrianRamsay ๐๐
Collaboration with the patient community is crucial for progress.
โGiven the many dimensions of long-COVID & its associated risk factors, international collaborations will be indispensable in validating these findings across diverse populationsโ
