I honestly don’t think I’ve anything left to say about COVID-19.
Whatever we say, it’s ignored by the authorities.
It’s also being ignored large numbers of people who should know better.
For me, this ⬇️ post sums up one big reason why we’re not getting anywhere.

Yes, this is a global crisis. It’s not just the US who have a problem.
Most of the public are oblivious though as the authorities don’t talk about it. For example, the authorities are happy to let COVID-19 harms get blamed on everything else.
It’s getting worse.
That’s because the « left » you are referring to is actually the pseudo left, working hand in hand with capitalist governments to dismantle public health.

I have repeatedly run into leftists of all stripes that call me a “covid dead ender” for not wanting to ignore this.
But how is never ending increases of death and disability not a dead end to them is what I’d like to know.
They’re no longer left, unfortunately. But even if they were, I’m not sure they’d do anything.
I'm thinking of the leftist content creators I follow who never mention Covid. They go to conferences, travel, no masks. Then they get sick, no testing, "just a cold". They disappear for a while or work sick. Over & over. They talk endlessly about social justice issues but never this one.
Nope, the left. The right obviously don't care & liberals think they care but there are self-proclaimed leftists who support marginalized groups but are silent when it comes to masking & otherwise protecting disabled & immunocompromised people (& all of us tbh because Covid does not discriminate.)
Labour arguably stopped being left leaning since Blair.
This government is just as much as a disgrace to this entire nation as much as the Tories are.

Long Covid is a massive issue.
Despite what you’re being told this isn’t a U.K. only problem.
It’s true we may be in a worse position than other countries for many reasons, including austerity & ‘opening up’ before most other countries, but other countries also have a big long Covid problem.

COVID-19 can weaken the immune system, which means that people are getting ill more often.
Long term sickness is escalating.
The NHS GP-Patient Survey is 5 times bigger than the ONS Survey with nearly 700K respondents.
They estimate over 3M people in the U.K. have long Covid. COVID-19 is still causing long Covid yet we’re doing nothing about it.
We should prevent illness not punish disabled people!
As far as I’m aware the only U.K. politicians who have posted about long Covid Awareness Day today are the leaders of @TheGreenParty.
