the game loop works well. each new dungeon level has a big jump in monster hp/damage and materials for building armor/weapons can only be found in those levels. you have to delve deeper and run from the monsters to get strong enough to fight them!

closest thing imo is Valheim. I'd play the hell out of that!

as with many things in life this is a bell curve where if you're a lousy cook it's "more expensive" to cook, if you're a moderately good cook it's cheaper than eating out, and if you're a great cook you might have to stop yourself from making it more expensive again
