This is extremely disappointing because as far as AAA games go I really do love Playstation titles, they are a cut above, and I was seriously looking forward to both Yotei and Saros and didn't mind the couple of years delay releasing on PC. I hope they'll reverse course on this eventually.

That said, My beef with a lot of cozy games is the Live Laugh Love / Good Vibes Only shit a LOT of them are built around.

Good 'cozy' games actually acknowledge negativity, and work with it. a lot of these mediocre cozy games I've seen over the past few years pretend negativity doesn't exist.

it's just the new version of "all indie games are roguelikes / pixel art RPGs about depression / boring first person walking simulators".

you'd think we'd be past this, but the general public have a habit of not learning fuck all.

as someone who has grown ever more bored and uncomfortable with this wave of cozy games: the backlash against it is so clearly rooted in a distain for anything femanine and an unthinking hatred of "indie games" as a whole.

You can't be a fan of superheroes, sci-fi or fantasy without encountering something that requires you to flex your critical thinking, and the same goes for cozy games.

"Are cozy games bad?" I think cozy is an aesthetic that can be used to whitewash awful human atrocities, but you can say that about most aesthetics. Cozy just happens to be girly.
