Dunkin' Donuts may be an inexplicable New England shibboloth, but I've got horror stories about visiting my parents in MA and seeing that the only coffee available was "Dunkin' Original" pods for their Keurig machine.
We went there the night I proposed to my now wife.
I am sure the food was great, but canβt remember the details. Just that the kitchen sent out snacks and champagne and the waitstaff thanked me for not proposing during dinner.
It was perfect. I was so sad to read it had closed.
The Usual (Prospect Heights, Brooklyn)
Completely unpretentious diner run by two Greek brothers, one of whom gave rollerblade lessons at the nearby park.

Action Comics #1 (1938): In his very first issue, Superman takes on political corruption.
On one hand, I am very sympathetic to calls to reduce administrative burden.
On the other hand, I'm not sure what useful information can be gleaned from the new form?
If the goal of this whole policy is to encourage folks to think about costs/requirements related to their data ahead of time.. um?
The Manchurian Candidate poster. Hot take: This movie is great.
Seven Days in May poster. I guess Iβm watching this tonight? Sure.
The movie poster for Seconds. I simply can not believe this was made 60 years ago. Incredible.
Around this time last year, I watched Alan Pakulaβs Paranoia Trilogy. Tonight Iβm going to finish up John Frankenheimerβs.

I used to have a cat named Schnitzel too.
It is currently hailing in the Bay Area.
Under the Government Use License, NIH-funded authors have the right to submit an AAM to PMC without an embargo, contrary to any publisher assertion or requirement that an author publish under an open access license and pay an APC.
Happy Friday the 13th, Valentine's Day, and Presidents' Day.
This week's update includes some truly disheartening news about climate change regulation in the US, more leadership changes at NIH, open data, and an ever increasing amount of snark.

Obnoxiously re-posting for your lunchtime reading...
The whole guide is free to read and adapt, by the way. Hopefully it won't take me months and months to finish the next bit, whichwill be all about software and code! johnborghi.github.io/Supporting_S...

This week's news update begins with Shakespeare and ends with pro-wrestling.

Iβm a dad and Iβm turning 40 tomorrow.
Hunt for Red October and The Fugitive are canonical VHS dad movies. Heat is my canonical DVD dad movie.
I will not be taking questions at this time.
My hottest movie take is that Casino is the daddest of all dad movies.
The news is incessant, I tried to summarize one small part.

The title of the play - The Lion King but something's off?
A doodle of Simba's presentation in the Lion King, where Rafiki holds a baby Simba up for the other animals to see. Except this time somebody is yelling "That's the wrong baby!"
Another doodle: Rafiki rears back and yeets the mystery baby off the cliff. The baby seems overjoyed at this development.
One last doodle: The other animals are very concerned about what has transpired today at Pride Rock.
My kid was recently in a production of the Lion King and doodled an alternate version.
The happy flying baby an early contender for my favorite comic panel of 2026.
This week in US-based science and higher education news:

4. The US is out of the WHO, California joins the WHO.
5. and too much more!
