I went hiking on a beautiful winter day. In hopes of seeing the bald eagles that often fly or perch in the area.

Alas, no eagles.

I placed my backpack on a log while I removed my jacket. The foggy morning started with temperatures in the 20s. I warmed up as I hiked. I used my old pack and walking stick out of nostalgia. I don't know when I'll return to this Olympia trail. So, I used some of my favorite old gear. I took this photo on a whim. I'm pleased with how it turned out. Thanks to the woods, the fog & Mother Nature.

I was looking for a fox in December 2021 in the woods near Olympia. I sometimes see one on this trail and was hoping to find paw prints in the snow. Alas, no fox sightings. But, I looked up and saw snow in the branches of deciduous and evergreen trees beneath a brilliant blue sky.
