There is a particular process to finishing MDF. You can’t just paint it and job done. High grade sanding between coats with meticulous inspection is required to be able to achieve a high quality finish.

Original spindle repair from 1903. This section had previously been filled using regular wood filler that had failed. Here I’m recreating the profile using resin.

When I started out as a apprentice scenic carpenter, I was on £2:80 an hour. Fully trained carpenters were on around £15 an hour & I understood why this was. This was back in 2002.
