I am holding a copy of my new book, 'Cave to Compass'. It has my photo of a view of the sea from inside a cave on the cover. Half of the cover is lilac. Text reads 'Findin relief from fibromyalgia'. In the background is a book case with lots of notebooks and few books. the living room floor is wooden. A shaft of sunlight is gleaming on the floor.
Delighted with my book, which was printed here in Ireland. It's for those of you who live with fibromyalgia and people keen to learn more about it. Get a copy here: kathrynmcrowley.com/fibromyalgia... #fibromyalgia #chronicpain #syndrome #scientific #holistic #autoethnography #fibrosupport #book

Lengths of yarn made from plastic netting hang on a door. A chart of whales and dolphins is on the door.
Green nets and white plastic netting. Text reads www. Kathryn M Crowley. com
Still figuring out ways to use netting as an art material. The texture creeps me out. These nets are made from plastic. Supermarket chains are still using netting to sell fruit and vegetables. I wonder who'll be the first food seller / retailer in Ireland to ban this stuff? #microplastics #art

Green Sea Turtle Rescue on Irelandβs Emerald Isle (3,000 km from home)
A turtleβs prayer I am meandering and ancient reptilian and patient with wisdom that twinkles just like the milky way. May stars and currents guide me through silky, cool, clean uisce* and maβ¦
A green sea turtle washed up on Irelandβs Emerald Isle shoreline 3,000 km from home, and survived thanks to a rescue effort. Petals, poetry, and Irish history
Colonialism, roses, and Irish history.
What has dipping a stick in ink and roses got to do with colonial oppression? Art-making led to a haiku, then my mind wanted to explore some history: kathrynmcrowley.com/2025/02/24/r... #poetry #poems #colonialism #Ireland #roses #creativeprocesss #selfexpression #musichistory #socialhistory

A group of adults are looking towards a hedgerow as a man gives a talk about ecology. He is pointing at long Montbretia leaves.
'Uisce', instigated by @erikahanna.bsky.social, was a great triad! I enjoyed a talk on the historical impact of rain in #Ireland and much more besides today (Erika Hanna), foklore and history snippets (Tom Dillon) and a biodiversity walk by the river Feale (Barry O'Donoghue). #history #biodiversity

Water pollution: 'Pathetic' fines won't stop NI polluters, say campaigners
Figures obtained by BBC News NI show there were 63 fines handed down for water pollution between 2020 and 2024.
See π§΅βοΈ
The maximum fine that can be handed down for getting rich by pouring shit into rivers is Β£20,000.
Last year, in occupied Northern Ireland, there were more than 4,000 spills, but just 63 fines. Just six of those fines were over Β£5,000 - most were closer to Β£200.

Blue-green waves of paint on paper. The outline of a whale is drawn in pencil and black marker. The page is taped onto a drawing board at the edges. Art in progress by Kathryn M Crowley Ireland.
No A.I. or digital drawing tools here. I painted the page, now it's time to add a whale.
This one will be an orca, aka killer whale. The orca is actually a dolphin.
What fecker decided to call it a killer just for having a big appetite? Sure thousands of sea creatures kill to feed. #whales ππ #art

Fair play to the academics. They're under pressure to accept A.I. but refuse. "We resist - because it is ecologically destructive, ethically corrupt, & because it undermines the thinking abilities that make us both human & intelligent." Thanks Clare for sharing the open letter.
