Multiple friends... and my husband, who I first met on AOL in 1997. Didn't even know his real name until 2004 haha (started dating in 2007).

Had to walk a delicate line between "of course the bot thinks your story is a good idea, it's designed for sycophancy" and "your story actually is a good idea, let's narrow down your scope and work on structure" that week.

When in 6th grade my elder child got *assigned* to ask an AI chatbot about her writing assignment for school, she came running straight to me to show me (and to ask me if it was right) because she knows what I do for work. (And also that I am a writer / editor.) Bless that child.

Coffee prices are so bad everywhere. The bag of ground coffee that used to be a base price of $8.99 and go on sale for $6.99 is now a base price of $14.99 and goes on sale for $9.99. All within the last year. I don't blame coffeeshops for raising prices but it's painful.

(No I will not stop lolol)

Have now hit the daunting part of new phone setup: logging back into 100 apps I don't remember the passwords for because I've been using biometrics since the last time I got a new phone three years ago

Someone at a local radio station keeps programming "No Scrubs" and "Manchild" back to back recently and I am just SO curious about the tea in their life

Everyone's (justifiably) angry at things they cannot control or affect, and it's leaking out all over the damn place.

I don't even mind paying whatever taxes need to be paid, I just want this to *go away* and it shouldn't be this difficult πŸ™ƒ

I feel like you might be the audience for my friend Kris's game lol

She died in July and had almost nothing valuable of note except her house and car, and I'm the one and only heir so no arguing, and yet it's *still* gonna be most of a year before this is sorted

I will never argue about that lol because I need to use multiple 12,000 - 14,000 word transcripts weekly

04.03.2026 17:32 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Some of the transcription tools I use at work got notably *worse* for a while there after they started AI-ifying (one added whole nonexistent sentences to some transcripts) but they have calmed down finally and are still better than doing it myself, yes.

Today has now ascended from "going to move to Australia" levels of bad to "absolute comedy of errors, pure farce" bad and it's truly something to behold. Managing to squirt coffee directly into my eye is really what pushed me over the edge, amaze. And it's not even noon!

Probate is the most stupid thing, please write your will on a piece of paper or something so nobody has to do this for you ever

I first saw it in 2004, in a grad school class about David Lynch, and even 20 years ago, before the entire videogame industry started plumbing that vibe, it was clear that either Twin Peaks was too early, or it was formative at a subconscious level for a lot of creative folks afterward.

if there's anything journalists and tax folks can agree on, it's that money tells a STORY lol

We are supposed to hit 70ΒΊ for highs by the end of the week but this winter has been so cold and gross and brutal in DC, I hate it.

It's snowing outside and I do not approve even a little.

The older I get, the more brutal eastward-headed flights / time zone changes are for me lol. gonna start needing a week to sleep off jetlag I swear.

I feel like there was an Andy Rooney complaint segment about this when the Walkman got popular

Playing Clair Obscur again since now there's photo mode and I want to capture some things to maybe write about correctly and -- god, this whole setup is just shivs all the way down if you know where it eventually goes

Now been waiting in line for longer than it took to shop for a whole family, the future is going great

You know what's amazing about the future? When your whole supermarket crashes while everyone is in line and the line stretches literally down the whole store waiting dor the store to reboot

I read that and just thought, "Imagine being in one place long enough to get mentoring and growth" lolsob

Media, man. We love it or we wouldn't be here, but...

Median townhouse on this side of the city was almost $1M by last year's profile and the median SFH has been over $1M for years. Definitely think that skews how people feel. πŸ™ƒ
