Vital Shell has quietly become one of my favorite go-to games this year for quick 10-15 minute game sessions. Very fast to boot up & do a run or two without dawdling. It was fun to see that I got today's top run on the leaderboard.

I’m so used to media not acknowledging the Philippines that it didn’t even register to me that Pokemon Winds/Waves seems to be set in it until it was brought to my attention in the last Tetracast episode.

Even then, it still hasn’t really set in for me yet beyond β€œshould I name my Pombon Adobo?”

Already seeing Pokemon Winds/Waves getting abbreviated to WiWa which is gonna fuck with me for the next several years because I’ll always think someone typo’d saying WuWa (Wuthering Waves) first.

Now watching the MyGO x Ave Mujica separate concert with the new bands millsage & Ikka Dumb Rock opening it. Both were decent, but I think I might be an Ikka Dumb Rock fan now if that was a glimpse into the general energy & vibe of their group going forward. They were great.

After this 5-hour Bang Dream concert, I've learned that I should probably listen to more stuff from Raise a Suilen, Morfonica, & Roselia.

Afterglow has a very funny group dynamic that consists of five childhood friends that do not synergize outside of performing & may all share the same brain cell.

Things I've learned two hours into this Bang Dream concert so far:

- Ayasa is OP
- I should be worried about Mugendai Mewtype's upcoming anime
- Raise a Suilen's 2nd vocalist is a gremlin who won't shut up for more than 60 seconds
- Ayasa is OP

I don't know if watching a 5-hour Bang Dream concert is the best way to spend my Saturday night but fuck it.

Storyteller: "All of your efforts have been truly remarkable."

When I first started playing The Mermaid’s Curse, I kept comparing it to the first game. Unlike The Seven Mysteries of Honjo, Paranormasight’s sequel doesn’t begin with an attention grabbing prologue. It doesn’t throw a mind-bending puzzle at you within the first hour or two. And its characters are not in any kind of immediate danger or time limit. The cast of Mermaid’s Curse is still just as charming as the previous entry, and the mystery is just as captivating, but it definitely has a slower pace compared to the first game. The first half of The Mermaid's Curse can even feel a bit like doing homework at times with the amount of exposition there is about old legends and Japanese history. However, this slower pace also made the game feel more confident in a way. The Mermaid’s Curse doesn’t feel the need to show off right away, it just trusts that players will stick around to see what it is cooking. But if all that build up led to a disappointing ending, it would have all been for nothing. Thankfully The Mermaid’s Curse hits it out of the park. Despite not being able to solve the final puzzle myself (I ended up having to look it up), I was left gobsmacked at how clever it was. The way this game uses its seemingly simple gameplay interactions to tell its story is honestly masterful. Not only that but everything in the narrative was wrapped up in an immensely satisfying way. There were even moments near the end that had me on the verge of tears. I still miss the more intense horror elements from the first game, but The Mermaid’s Curse is still a sequel that most franchises can only dream of having. Finishing this game reconfirmed to me that the Paranormasight series is really something special, and I have no doubt that these games will live on as cult classics for years to come. At the very least, they are definitely some of my personal favorite entries in the Japanese adventure genre.

Last night I obtained the final ending in Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse and I absolutely loved it! I couldn't ask for a better sequel to my favorite game in 2023.

You can read my more detailed thoughts in the alt text for the screenshot below, which are free of spoilers.

Don't have a lot of time this week to check out a lot of Steam Next Fest demos, but I'll try to commit to this small initial batch for now.

Both the directors did; Tsurumaki was the entire show's director, while Yatabe served as episode director on some of it.

Not sure what to think after how GQuuuuuuX went down. Yoko Taro is an interesting individual to have involved, but I encourage people to look more into his other works besides Nier & Drakengard-verse stuff. He's more than just two series.

If nothing else, at least Keiichi Okabe is on-board too.

Every Sunday I try to find new set of words to praise Journal with Witch that captures the immense gratitude that it exists. Sometimes (and not just for this show), I become afraid that if I express liking something too much, it can turn people away from it or set high unrealistic expectations.

In a new .hack//Z.E.R.O. interview with Dengeki Online, CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama mentions that the development progress is roughly around 5%, so it'll be awhile. dengekionline.com/article/2026...

You know I was thinking of posting "maybe that ufotable teaser is a new dot hack anime as part of the new .hack//Z.E.R.O. cross-media wave that Matsuyama was teasing in an interview" but I didn't because I'm a coward and didn't want to embarrass myself.

tl;dr I need that Mahoyo movie soooooo bad

Shame that I already 100%'d the fuck out Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition so there's little reason for me to return & even then, I have a lot of mixed feelings (mostly negative) towards the new stuff they did. Still, this is cool and wish it happened sooner. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LC0X...
