I’m pretty hooked on the manuscript I’m beta reading 👀 might have to postpone all scheduled reads this week 😅

How can you tell? I'm all for blocking people who use genAI, but people are so often wrong about it.
An element of my cover was accused of being genAI, and the stock image used was uploaded to Shutterstock in 2014 ... I'm no expert, but pretty sure genAI couldn't make images like that in 2014
Cover art for 'The Fairy Wren' by Ashley Capes. Upon a paint-splattered background of blue, white and grey, sits a superb fairy wren with a calm expression. Art and text design by Vivid Covers
'The Fairy Wren' is on sale today - it's one my first books, a contemporary fantasy which is both:
"A bit better than watching reruns and commercials on TV"
&
"Beautiful, lyrical and soul stirring"
according to some reviews :D

Read Afterburn by D Andrews as a judge in team #SpaceGirls for #SPSFC5 I'd already read this due to personal interest and I'm personally giving this a Yes to move forward.

Review of Generations by Noam Josephides

That's another #SPFBOXI review in the books!
The Golden Princess delivers fast-paced thrills, vivid characters, and constant danger. A few aspects didn’t quite click, but its ambition and tension make it a compelling ride.
I have a book review for #spfbo
The Witch and the Woodcutter.
It's a book for the times, which is horrifying because it's supposed to be a book about the past.

The SPFBO XI reviews just keep coming!
Budding Rhythm by CrimCat is an enjoyable LitRPG romp where you spend time with a lively protagonist as she stumbles, schemes, and slices her way through a game-like fantasy world

BUTCHER BOY by Aaron Daggit
OK...so it begins...my first review for #SPFBO XI is up on FanFiAddict. I had a Dresden-esque journey with BUTCHER BOY by Aaron Daggit. My full review: fanfiaddict.com/spfbo-xi-rev...

Back in July I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of The Old Crones Club by Jennifer Taylor-Gray. I’ve just realised it’s in SPFBO11 ! One to look out for 👀

Belated #SFINCS Round 1 review for The Devil Owns Primetime by Sirius .: beforewegoblog.com/sfincs-revie...
Devil wasn't one of my initial books, but I picked it up on recommendation from a teammate. I'm so glad I did (it had been on my TBR before the contest, but this gave me the nudge)! #SFINCS3
Graphic with black text top and bottom and a book in the centre. Text at top: Part of SPFBO XI. Bottom: On sale for 0.99. the book has a cover in an art nouveau style with the title: Reflections of Lilje Damselfly by Natalie Kelda and features a woman holding a water lily in one hand. She’s dressed in a blue water dress with water swirling around her arm and the hand that doesn’t hold the lily. Beneath her feet are two fish. Around the woman is a set of circles with the top half lined with water lilies and their lily pads. Around the scene is a swirling pattern in 3 tones of blue.
Lilje got through the lottery!
Amidst all the chonky epic fantasy books, here's a gentle little one that'll amke you smile and maybe cry but feel very alive I think.
Just over a day left in the sale so be quick!
Pleased to have discovered another Hidden Gem #SPSFC5
Iconoclast by Dave Walsh
The SPFBO has opened its doors!
You have about 21 hours left to put your self-published fantasy book in the hat.
Meanwhile, I’m attempting a different route to the top 🙂
yes, 25% is what we're supposed to be reading to begin with. But I'm not inclined to stop an amazing book just when it's getting good 🤭
Another #spsfc5 entry I couldn't put down
www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
One of the books in my scout pile for #spsfc5 was impossible for me to put down at the 25% mark, so I finished it. I loved Breakwater by Vivian Wilderbridge! I hope more people discover it 🤩

A photo of the retro raygun awarded to the winner of the Self-Published Science Fiction Competition alongside a plague that notes the winner of SPSFC 4 as Saint Elspeth by Wick Welker. Next to the trophy is Welker's book, which has a cover of a hovering ovoid spacecraft above San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. The sky is orange and full of portent.
With the fifth Self-Published Science Fiction Competition (SPSFC) taking book entries next month, we're looking for a few good volunteers to join us as judges:

The cover of the novel Bisection by Sheila Jenné. Over stars and a blue planet, two women of contrasting colors are connected by roots and structures reminiscent of a brain.
After 306 days and 175 novels, the fourth #SPSFC has chosen its winner along with five finalists as runners-up.
Sixth place goes to the "awesome high-concept" Bisection by @jennelikejennay.bsky.social. You can share one brain and still not understand someone.
