Oof, seems like the dental school clinic is already super backlogged and not all student insurance plans even cover it. Hope you at least get some communication about your appointment, this seems like a huge mess
UMN permanently closed their Boynton Dental Clinic today after a couple week temporary closure. I hear about 25 people have lost their jobs; they didn't find out until today when the news was made public boynton.umn.edu/dental-servi...

Banger essay on block parties: "Too often streets have been designed for speed, enforcement, and extraction rather than safety, play, and belonging. Reclaiming streets is not nostalgia. It is redistribution β of safety, of space, of visibility, of belonging."

I would love to hear more from you and other local abolitionist organizers on what that could look like
My best conclusion is that rapid response is addressing an immediate safety need, it's inherently reactionary. We can learn from it for longer term organizing but it's good to recognize the nextdoor parallels
What does bounty hunter mean here? What are these goons doing and who's paying them?
Non-profits are still governed by market logic and are not a substitute for the welfare state and robust, well-funded public housing

Proposing Minneapolis establish a Department of Public Drip and give them $30 million to develop the coolest jacket in the state
"I hate to part with it but I have one too many chairs in my living room." Either this is a BS cover for a significant other making them get rid of it, or they have the most insane collection of chairs and this is the least insane one
Very amused that my For You feed is literally 90% posts about the cool St Paul jacket
You'd think our state's premier research university would be screaming from the rooftops about this. But UMN admin are happy to fall in line and mold the U however they need to keep the money flowing
Thousands of our neighbors are struggling to pay rent. Mayor Frey is sending scolding letters painting small business aid and rent assistance as fiscally irresponsible. MPD blew $4.3 million on overtime last month.
And now the Frey administration wants $38 million for MPDβs own cop city?
Commentary: Out-of-state investors buy up manufactured home parks, then implement aggressive rent hikes on residents who own their homes but rent the land beneath. As eviction rates climb across the state, homeowners need protection from these practices. minnesotareformer.com/2026/02/25/m...

Black foam beer koozie with "stump party 3" written in death metal lettering
I'll be rolling up to stump party with my vintage Stump Party III koozie
The Minneapolis Foundation needs to give @mplsnightmayor.bsky.social a grant to build a state-of-the-art stump party facility in city limits. It's embarrassing that our top talent and those tourism $ are going to an inner ring suburb
